(Minghui.org) A Changchun resident was arrested about 20 days after she declined to write a statement to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

Two officers broke into Ms. Li Fengzhi’s home on December 12, 2016. They called in two more officers when they noted a portrait of Master Li Hongzhi, founder of Falun Gong. The four of them ransacked Ms. Li’s home and confiscated the portrait, a copy of Zhuan Falun (main text of Falun Gong), and other books written by Master Li.

Ms. Li was held at Fenjin Police Station that night and moved to Weizigou Detention Center the next day. Her daughter went to seek her release but was unsuccessful.

Ms. Li’s latest arrest was preceded by a visit from a woman of the local street committee weeks ago. The woman demanded Ms. Li write a guarantee to break away from Falun Gong. Having resumed practicing Falun Gong only months ago, Ms. Li was determined never again to give up the practice under pressure. She refused to comply with the demand, only to be arrested shortly afterwards.

Ms. Li was first arrested in July 1999, when the persecution had just started. Her son managed to get her released and began to keep a close eye on her. He did everything possible to prevent her from practicing Falun Gong. To divert her attention, he encouraged her to play Mahjong.

After losing a lot of money playing Mahjong, Ms. Li knew that gambling could never fill the void in her heart. She resumed her practice of Falun Gong in July 2016.
