(Minghui.org) A Dongcheng District retiree recently discovered that he had nothing in his pension account. An investigation of his personnel file indicated that Mr. Wang Shuxiang, a 30-year employee of the Bureau of Urban Utilities and Landscaping in Beijing, was recorded as having only two years and nine months of service.

What happened to the 27 other years of service that Mr. Wang has logged with the Bureau?

Dongcheng District Talent Service Center staff told his wife that the Dongcheng police once took out the file and altered the document.

Mrs. Wang visited the local police station, which admitted that they were indeed responsible for the error in her husband’s personnel file. They promised to give her 30,000 yuan as compensation, but refused to take action to fix the error. She turned down the offer and is now in the process of securing a lawyer to fight for Mr. Wang’s right to pension benefits.

Mr. Wang, who is serving 4 years at Qianjin Prison for his faith, suspects that the local police retaliated against him for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

Police Made Threats 16 Years Ago

Mr. Wang was first arrested on March 13, 2000 for unfurling a banner with a Falun Gong message on Tiananmen Square. Officers Liu Li and Liu Yuxin went to harass him at home after he was released 24 days later.

He refused to give up his belief in Falun Gong, and the two officers threatened to make his life miserable.

In the years that followed, Mr. Wang was arrested a few more times for his faith. He was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison on December 5, 2000. Most recently, he was arrested in October 2014 and sentenced to 4 years on December 16, 2015.

Mr. Wang’s employer fired him around 2000, by which time he had worked there for almost 30 years.

Mrs. Wang, who practices Falun Gong too, was also arrested on multiple occasions and lost her job. After Mr. Wang was imprisoned again two years ago, she has had to rely on help from relatives to make ends meet.

As soon as Mr. Wang reached the retirement age on March 9, 2016, Mrs. Wang went to Dongcheng District Talent Service Center to submit his retirement application on his behalf.

She received Mr. Wang’s pension card with no trouble, but she soon realized that no money was in the account. With only 2 years and 9 months of services recorded in his personnel file, Mr. Wang’s pension benefits amounted to basically nothing.
