(Minghui.org) A Miyun County resident remains captive following his arrest on May 26, 2016 for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
Mr. Feng Lianyou’s family has been denied visits with him, and the police have refused to provide updates on his condition.
This is not the first time that Mr. Feng, born in 1966, has been targeted for his faith. He was given two years of forced labor after he was arrested in the summer of 2005. Less than one year after his release, he was seized again and given 5 years of prison term. During both detentions, he was subjected to various forms of abuse and torture. He was once shocked with six electric batons simultaneously until they ran out of charge.
Mr. Feng had multiple run-ins with the law in his younger years, for a different reason. He was sentenced to prison four times between 1987 and 1995, for a total of 10.5 years. His convictions included theft, extortion, illegal possession of firearms, and vandalism.
His life took a 180 degree turn in 2000 after he began to practice Falun Gong and strive to follow its principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. He came to regret the wrongs he did to other people and tried his best to make up for his mistakes. He worked hard to return money he had extorted from people in the past.
His mother, nearly 80, couldn’t be happier for him. She was also able to enjoy his company and tender care of her.
Her peaceful life didn’t last long though. As Mr. Feng was repeatedly targeted for his faith, his mother couldn’t understand when striving to be good person became a crime.
Disabled, she had to check into a nursing home following her son’s latest arrest.
