(Minghui.org) Many Falun Gong practitioners have been exercising their legal right to sue Jiang Zemin for launching the persecution of Falun Gong and causing them great harm and tremendous suffering over the past 16 years. Mr. Guo Jufeng, a 41-year-old Falun Gong practitioner now living in Germany, filed a criminal complaint with the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate in Beijing on July 24, 2015.

Mr. Guo, who fled China seven years ago, recounted what he went through at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party. He was arrested seven times and went through 17 different detention facilities in an 8-month period. When he was last arrested in March 2001, he was given two and a half years of forced labor, which was served in three different labor camps.

While incarcerated at different places, Mr. Gao was subjected to various forms of abuse. He detailed some of the torture episodes in his lawsuit against Jiang.

Right Leg Broken

Mr. Gao lost consciousnesses when he fell down a steep slope while trying to escape arrest. It was the winter time in 2001. When he came to, he found himself bound, his leg broken, and in a police station. The officers sent him to a hospital to have a cast put on his fractured right leg. When he was returned to the station, they interrogated him with torture. For three days, they didn't allow him to sleep—police threw cold water on him when he dozed off. They made him remain in wet clothes in the cold weather.

Held in Solitary with Hands Cuffed to the Floor

While being held in a drug rehabilitation center, Mr. Gao was sent to solitary confinement when he refused to watch videos slandering Falun Gong. He was made to squat with his hands cuffed to a floor anchor for a day. He was not given any food or water.

Forced Blood Test and Electric Shock

Mr. Gao was strip-searched and had his blood drawn at the time he was admitted to Dalian Labor Camp in late March 2001. Two months later, he and nine other Falun Gong practitioners were brought to a classroom, where they were forced to kneel. They were told to hold their arms extended horizontally. If they moved, they would be given an electric shock.

Mr. Gao was shocked for five hours straight. His neck was burnt. During the torture, guards held a mirror up to his face so that he could see his disfigurement.

Cuffed to Inmate for 100 Days

While held in Guanshanzi Labor Camp, Mr. Gao was handcuffed to another inmate for 100 days. Two inmates were ordered to take turns having their hands cuffed with Mr. Gao's. They were promised a reduced prison sentence if they complied. Mr. Gao had to do everything in this condition—eating, washing himself, and using the restroom.

Forced to Do Hard Labor

When Mr. Gao was not being tortured or forced to watch materials slanderous to Falun Gong, he worked without pay in all the labor camps he was held. Guards would torture him and other practitioners if they failed to finish their assigned tasks on time. One guard shocked practitioners so many times that he got blisters on his thumb from pressing the button on his electric baton.

Force-fed with Beer

Mr. Gao was force-fed multiple times when he went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention. Once he was restrained to a bed for nine days and force-fed with beer. As Falun Gong practitioners do not drink alcohol, Mr. Gao had a severe reaction. He had stomach cramps and vomited. His throat swelled.

Released on Medical Parole

Mr. Gao became so weak after the beer-feeding episode that the labor camp released him on medical parole, so that they would not be responsible for his death. The camp forced Mr. Guo to pay 2,000 yuan for his own release.

Flight from China

Harassment continued after his release and Mr. Guo felt that he had to leave China. He found a job with a German car distributor in 2007. While on a business trip to Germany on January 9, 2008, Mr. Guo embraced freedom for the first time. After serious reflection, he decided to stay. His family joined him in 2009. He is now a certified electrical engineer there.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners over the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their beliefs and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law now allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
