(Minghui.org) Some practitioners in China have recently experienced interference when filing lawsuits against Jiang Zemin for persecuting Falun Gong. Below are my thoughts on the matter.

Summary Reports Carry More Weight

After reading all the reports on Minghui regarding suing Jiang Zemin, I noticed that both individual and group complaints are powerful in telling people the facts of the persecution.

A police officer once told a practitioner, “I am not against Falun Gong, and I do not like arresting practitioners. But when there are some cases that involve many people and my boss asks me to handle them, I have no choice—I do not want to lose my job. Neither does my boss.”

With this in mind, when reporting on lawsuits that involve many plaintiffs, we can combine them into summary reports instead of isolated lawsuits. Below are some examples:

Nearly 10,000 Falun Gong Practitioners Press Criminal Charges against Former Dictator Jiang Zemin4,000 Plaintiffs in China Sue Former Dictator Jiang Zemin129 Falun Gong Practitioners in Hebei Province Sue Jiang Zemin

These kinds of reports will effectively suppress the evil. Of course, we need to follow up with local officials and explain the facts of the persecution to them.

Taking the Initiative

In “Fa Teaching Given at the 2015 New York Fa Conference,” Master said, “You might be doing what you’re told, but if you don’t really pay attention to your attitude toward things or how to effectively save people, then that’s a problem in your cultivation.”

From this, we can learn that there is no easy ride in cultivation. We cannot simply follow others or join the crowd. To save people, we need to let go of various selfish elements. They include validating ourselves, showing-off, ego, jealousy, fear, and sentimentality (qing). This is indeed very serious.

In addition, each practitioner's cultivation path is unique, which is evident as we prepare lawsuits against Jiang. Each of us has different cultivation experiences and paths of resisting the persecution, so we need to put our hearts into the lawsuits and do it well.

Here is one example. In the report 4,000 Plaintiffs in China Sue Former Dictator Jiang Zemin, there were 3,245 copies of criminal complaints, while the total number of plaintiffs was almost 4,000. That means about one fifth of the practitioners did not write their own complaints; rather, they simply joined others.

Such a mindset can also be seen in some practitioners' words, “We have to join in suing Jiang, whether we want to or not,” and “Please do not leave me behind—when the criminal complaint is finished, could you also include my name?” Some are afraid they won't complete cultivation if they don't sue Jiang, and some consider it similar to collecting signatures to rescue detained practitioners, which is something they should do.

In my opinion, we need to prepare the criminal complaints ourselves. If conditions permit, we should also finish the remaining steps ourselves, instead of relying on others. This also applies to mailing it and submitting a copy to Minghui. It is important for us to do this in person.

It is similar to our traveling to Beijing to appeal when the persecution first began. Some practitioners asked others to help them buy train tickets and cover the costs for other aspects of the trip. However, upon arriving in Beijing, their real cultivation state would display itself in full. We can clearly see the differences between these people and those practitioners who cultivated well.

Hesitation and Fear

One practitioner did not join the wave of suing Jiang in the beginning because she wanted to wait and see how things went. One day when studying the Fa, Master's words stood out to her:

“Of course, if there really was only one person who succeeded in cultivation I would make him the cosmos, and he'd have everything.” (“Teaching and Explaining the Fa at the Metropolitan New York Fa Conference”)

This practitioner realized that she should not hesitate anymore: supposing only one practitioner succeeded in cultivation, as Master mentioned in the lecture, how could that person wait and see? Therefore, she decided to study the Fa and walk her own path instead of following others. She soon prepared the criminal complaint and sent it out.

Another practitioner said that he was afraid when he was preparing the complaint. After mailing it, he was afraid because he also submitted it to Minghui. As he continued to study the Fa, he reaffirmed that he was doing the right thing and stopped worrying about it.

A Process of Improvement

Mailing my lawsuit helped me rectify my thoughts and discipline myself with the principles of the Fa.

In Hong Yin, Master wrote,

“What is a human?Full is he of emotion and desire. What is a God?Human thoughts are nowhere found.”“The Difference Between Mortal and Divine”

This reminds me to keep clearheaded and to pay attention to details. Since filing the lawsuit against Jiang, I have kept studying the Fa, doing the exercises, sending forth righteous thoughts, and telling people the facts of Falun Gong every day. This reminds me of the days when I first started cultivating.

Other practitioners have also had similar experiences. “Through suing Jiang, I could feel Master compassionately helping me with my cultivation. This made me realize my own attachments of fear, validating myself, showing off, selfishness, and other bad things.” He said Master gave him wisdom with which to prepare the lawsuit.
