Additional Persecution News from China – January 24, 2015 (16 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 22 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 8 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Two Imprisoned Practitioners Deprived of Family Visits

Mr. Qu Bin and Mr. Zhu Chengqian, detained at the Shenyang No. 1 Prison, were not allowed family visits on January 21, 2015. It was the fourth time Mr. Qu's wife was not allowed to visit him.

Mr. She Yue, Mr. Wang Shouchen, and Mr. Ma Ruitian were allowed to meet with their families that day.

2. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Sufang's Arrest Approved

Ms. Wang Sufang's arrest was approved after she was held three months beyond her detention term.

3. [Jinsha County, Guizhou Province] Three Practitioners Sentenced

Ms. Zhang Qinghui, 76, Ms. Liu Kaixiu, 63, and Ms. Dai Qinyi, 50, put on trial by the Jinsha County Court in February 2014, and were sentenced in August 2014 to a three- year and six-month, a two-year, and a one-year and six-month prison term, respectively. They appealed their sentences, but the court upheld the original sentences. They were taken to the Guizhou Province No. 1 Women's Prison on January 12, 2015, by personnel at the Jinsha Detention Center.

4. [Pingdingshan City, Henan Province] Mr. Hu Qingbin Put on Trial

Mr. Hu Qingbin was put on trial by the Xinhua Court on the morning of January 23, 2015. Li Yonghui, the prosecutor, gave Mr. Hu a hard time in court. The presiding judge did not allow Mr. Hu's wife and son to be present during the trial, using the excuse that they were not witnesses.

5. [Shangyu City, Zhejiang Province] Mr. Cai Xingang and Ms. Xu Zhufen Facing Trial

Mr. Cai Xingang and his wife Ms. Xu Zhufen, arrested several months ago, will be put on trial in a month.

6. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Fang Yunxiang Sentenced

Ms. Fang Yunxiang, 66, was arrested on April 22, 2014. She was recently put on trial and sentenced to a three-year and six-month prison term.

7. [Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province] Four Practitioners Detained

Ms. Wang Guiying, Ms. Ma Shuzhen, Ms. Ma Shumei, and Ms. Li Chunhui were arrested by officers from the Xinhua Town Police Department on the morning of January 22, 2015, for distributing calendars that had information about the persecution of Falun Gong. They are being held at that police department.

8. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhang Keliang's Whereabouts Unknown

Mr. Zhang Keliang was arrested by twelve officers from the Shouguang City Domestic Security Division and the Shengcheng Police Station on the afternoon of January 22, 2015. The police ransacked his home and confiscated his car. His whereabouts are unknown.

9. [Leling City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Zhang Jinhai, his wife Ms. Zhang Jinfang, and Ms. Gong were arrested at Mr. Zhang's store on the morning of January 22, 2015, by officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Leling City Police Department. The police took pictures of Mr. Zhang's store and ransacked it. They confiscated Falun Gong books and other items. The three practitioners were taken to the Leling City Domestic Security Division.

10. [Fuyu County, Heilongjiang Province] Three Practitioners' Arrests Approved

Ms. Jing Guixiang, Ms. Wang Aimin, and Ms. Kuang Weihua were arrested by officers from Qiqihar City and Fuyu County on November 14, 2014. They are being held at the Qiqihar City No. 1 Detention Center. Their families were informed by Qiqihar City officers on January 22, 2015, that the arrests had been approved.

11. [Meishan City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Zhang Xuejun and Mr. Wan Wu Put on Trial

Mr. Zhang Xuejun and Mr. Wan Wu were put on trial by the Meishan City Court on January 28 and February 2, 2015, respectively.

12. [Panshan County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Yan Sentenced

Ms. Li Yan's attorney was informed on January 22, 2015, that she had been sentenced to a three-year prison term by the Panshan County Court on January 19, 2015.

13. [Yidu City, Hubei Province] Ms. Chen Qimei Harassed

Li Zhong and other officers from the Yidu City Domestic Security Division ransacked Ms. Chen Qimei's home on the morning of January 20, 2015. They confiscated several DVDs of lectures given by the founder of Falun Gong, and photos of the founder. They also wanted to take her Falun Gong books, but Ms. Chen stopped them.

14. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Hongxia Detained

Ms. Liu Hongxia, in her forties, was arrested on August 8, 2014.

Ms. Lu Chunxian was arrested by officers from the Xincheng Police Station on the morning of January 21, 2015, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Her whereabouts are unknown.

16. [Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Liu Change Put on Trial

Ms. Liu Change's case was submitted by the Yuehu District prosecutor in Yingtan City to the Bailu Town Court in Yuehu District. Her family was informed that she would be tried on January 29, 2015.
