(Minghui.org) Mr. Ouyang Hongbo from Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, visited Falun Gong practitioner Su Xiaohua on July 16, 2014. He was arrested by officers from the Heping District Domestic Security Division and tortured. They wanted him to admit that he had written “Falun Gong is good” in public places in Shenyang City.
Mr. Ouyang refused to confess to anything and was detained in the Shenyang City No. 1 Detention Center. The police used his parents to threaten him. Mr. Ouyang's father was 82 at the time.
The court scheduled a hearing for Mr. Ouyang on January 26, 2015, but it was delayed due to lack of evidence.
Mr. Ouyang was tried on September 7, 2015, and sentenced to six years in prison despite the lack of evidence.
Mr. Ouyang's family was devastated to learn of his sentence.
Nanta Police Station officers then called Mr. Ouyang's wife and demanded that she forge a statement that her husband had filed a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the Chinese Communist regime. She refused to comply, so the police harassed other members of his family.
Mr. Ouyang's family have hired attorneys from Beijing to appeal the unjust sentence with the Shenyang City Intermediate Court.
