Disabled Practitioner Imprisoned for Five Months

(Minghui.org) Ms. Wei Yuhong, from Daxing District, Beijing, was arrested in early August 2014. Ma Chunyuan from the 610 Office and police officers Li Xuejun and Gan Liping from the Guanyinsi Police Station conducted the arrest, and Ms. Wei was imprisoned at the Daxing Detention Center for five months.

Ms. Wei, 47, and developmentally disabled, lives in the Tuanhe Court of Daxing District. She has had epilepsy since she was three years old. Because of her diagnosis, she could not take care of herself. Until she started Falun Gong, she had several epileptic episodes a day, and no treatment brought her relief.

Furthermore, because of her low IQ, she was classified with a 'class 2' developmental disability. Despite her disability, she was married three times, but each of her spouses abandoned her.

Ms. Wei started practicing Falun Gong in 1997. When her epileptic episodes ceased, she no longer had to take any medication. She could now take care of herself, and her intelligence also improved. Since she found a job and was living on her own, she was no longer a burden to her family and friends.

The head of the Daxing District 610 Office Ma Chunyuan, chief of Domestic Security Division Li Xuejun, and Gan Liping from the Guanyinsi Police Station, violated the existing federal Chinese law of disabled persons by imprisoning Ms. Wei indefinitely.

Existing Chinese law concerning the protection of disabled persons states: “The lawful rights and personal dignity of disabled persons shall not be infringed upon. When it comes to certain mentally disabled persons, no organization or individual, including the disabled person's family members, may unlawfully imprison the disabled person. Otherwise, they shall be punished in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Criminal Law.”

Ma and Li has made it a point to persecute all Falun Gong practitioners in Daxing District, further ignoring any Chinese law or the Chinese Constitution.
