(Minghui.org) Ms. Tang Fengjie (唐凤杰) was distributing Falun Gong fliers on May 2, 2014 when she was arrested by police. Officers ransacked her home later that day and confiscated her Falun Gong books.
The Xihu Court and Procuratorate jointly tried Ms. Tang in October, but a verdict was never issued. In the interim, Ms. Tang is still being held by local authorities.
Her family is highly concerned about her physical and mental condition, and they worry about how she, a 73-year-old woman, is faring at the Hangzhou City Detention Center.
Upon hearing of Ms. Tang's arrest, her husband's blood pressure surged, and he began to experience hearing difficulties. His daughter had to take care of him in addition to her own family.
Ms. Tang's husband went to the authorities responsible for her arrest several times. He told them about how his wife, a retired teacher from Qingchun Middle School in Hangzhou, was able to take care of household chores and care for him with ease after she regained health from her practice of Falun Gong.
A retired college professor plagued with various diseases, Mr. Tang's husband relies on his wife to tend to his daily activities. He said Ms. Tang did nothing wrong by following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and requested her unconditional release.
The police, however, refused to set Ms. Tang free.
Ever since the Communist regime launched its persecution of Falun Gong, Ms. Tang has suffered great ordeals. She was detained in 2001 for her belief. In 2003, agents from the 610 Office attempted to brainwash her into renouncing Falun Gong.
The authorities also constantly harassed and threatened her and her family.
