(Minghui.org) Ms. Yang Min's is still detained after being arrested for distributing Shen Yun DVD's on February 27, 2014 and held at a local detention center for 15 days. The Harbin City 610 Office currently seeks to impose an illegal trial on her. She may be thrown into prison as a result.
Ms. Yang's daughter wrote the following letter to related parties to urge them not to be part of this persecution.
* * *
My mother gave a man a Shen Yun DVD at the Jin'an Department Store on February 27, 2014. This person then turned her in to the Shangzhi Police Station.
In the next few days, my grandmother took me to different departments to inquire about my mother's case. I wanted to see my mother and hoped that she could come back home, but we were told that she would be detained for 15 days. I counted the days, hoping that she would be released soon.
Fifteen days passed, but she didn't come home. Instead, we learned that her case changed to one warranting criminal detention, and she was transferred to the Daoli District Procuratorate, which means that she would face a trial and most likely be sentenced to prison.
I cannot hold back my tears when I think of my mother's suffering. My father passed away when I was eight years old. She was soon laid off. Life was not easy for her as a single mom.
Mom was 36 years old at that time. She took care of all the household chores while working full-time. She got up very early in the morning to cook for me and send me to school. After a long day of work, she picked me up from school. In addition to worrying about my academic performance, she worried about me being bullied in school as a young girl without a father.
She had a lot of bitterness in her heart and often cried when she was alone. However, she had to keep her head up when she was with others. Maybe because she thought she had lost too much in life or worried about losing more, she struggled with life under pressure and became calculating. She couldn't get over the fact that her in-laws favored my aunts.
Her health deteriorated and she developed low blood pressure, low blood sugar and would pass out any time. She also suffered pelvic inflammatory disease and appendicitis. How I wished that I could grow up quickly, so that I could share her burden and ease her worries.
For some time I noticed that mom was often reading a book, sometimes even until midnight. She started doing some exercises. I asked her what she was reading. She told me: “It's Zhuan Falun . I now practice Falun Gong.”
“What? Falun Gong? Didn't they set themselves on fire on Tiananmen Square? That's too horrible!” I couldn't believe that my mother was now a member of that group.
Mom explained to me: “Do you remember the girl Liu Siying? She spoke and sang on TV, four days after she supposedly had a tracheotomy surgery. Isn't that a joke? Also the plastic soda bottle between Wang Jindong's legs. How can the bottle be intact when he was burned all black? The self-immolation was a set-up. How come such things didn't happen in other countries but just in China?”
Even though I didn't completely understand what she told me, I noticed changes in her. All her diseases disappeared. She became very considerate. One of my aunts wanted to own my grandmother's newly built house and said she would give us 50,000 yuan for it. Real estate in Harbin city is very expensive. 50,000 yuan cannot even buy a bathroom, much less a unit. However, mom agreed. In addition, she said that because my aunt and uncle took care of grandmother, the house should be theirs.
I saw that my mom started handling herself according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Our peaceful and happy life took a sudden downturn in 2002 when mom was arrested and sentenced to labor camp. Living alone was very difficult for me. I had to take care of myself. But my cooking wasn't as good as hers and I couldn't clean my laundry as well as she did.
I was 17 years old, a key period in high school. My life experience caused me to be sad and have low self-esteem. I was confused as to why a good person like my mom would be thrown into a labor camp? I imagined myself breaking into the labor camp to rescue my mom. But in reality, I was so powerless and didn't know what to do.
After mom came home from the labor camp, she told me how she suffered torture and forced transformation, which made me shiver when I heard about it. However, mom did not give up her faith.
Later I graduated and found a job. I could understand more of my mother's hardship as a single mom, and her tenacity and perseverance for me and the family. As a daughter, I understand that the Falun Gong belief for mom is a type of support. It is like roots to branches. If mom lost the foundation that Falun Gong gave her, she would wither away just like the leaves of a tree without the roots.
This is not only true for my mother, but also true for other Falun Gong practitioners. How can beliefs be eliminated by fists? If human hearts can be changed by coercion, why then do we think so highly of the influence of Confucius' teachings? And, among all teachings, isn't Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance the purest and most noble?
Now I have my own job and can support myself and help mom a little bit. I feel that life is good. However, mom is arrested again! The bitter memory is coming back to me.
When my mother was taken to a labor camp in 2002, where she was tortured, I was a little girl that knew nothing about law. I was afraid to tell people that she was innocent. I didn't dare to debunk the slanders against my mom. I didn't dare to tell others: “My mom has done nothing wrong!” I despise that I was such a coward.
Now, I'm a grown-up and she is in danger again. But this time I will not leave her suffering alone!
I consulted with attorneys and realized that there is no existing Chinese law that makes it a crime to practice Falun Gong. The persecution of Falun Gong is as ridiculous as the Cultural Revolution. An innocent Falun Gong practitioner may end up in prison with some trumped up charges any time. People who implement the persecution policy are actually committing crimes. They will be held accountable, just like those perpetrators during the Cultural Revolution.
I heard that the man who insisted on turning my mom in to the police station was actually not an average citizen. He was in charge of the persecution at the city Political and Legal Affairs Committee (PLAC). Had not he been from the PLAC, my mother would have been released in a few days.
I want to tell all those people who participate in the persecution, “Please do not consider the persecution your job. Please no longer bring suffering to Falun Gong practitioners and their families.”
Please release my mom and give my happy family back to me!
