Couple Illegally Sentenced, Judge Refuses to Give Written Verdict to Their Daughter

(Minghui.org) When 21-year-old Ms. Wen Bo requested the verdict from the judge who illegally sentenced her parents, the judge shoved her away and closed his office door.

Ms. Wen Bo didn't leave. She stayed outside his office, waiting for judge Guo Xiangxi (郭相喜) to come out again.

Seeing that Ms. Wen was still there 15 minutes later, Guo came out. Ms. Wen asked why he sentenced her parents. Guo didn't answer and went back into his office.

After another fifteen minutes, Guo came out of his office and told Ms. Wen that they couldn't give her the verdict, but could mail it to the lawyer if she paid the shipping fee. Ms. Wen had no one to turn to for financial help. She only had 60 yuan with her and her grandmother was sick, hospitalized and needed help herself. She could only give the judge 44 yuan, the price the judge asked for to mail one copy

She asked him, “If you won't give me the written copy, can you at least tell me how long my parents have been sentenced?”

“Your mother was sentenced to six years and your father four years,” Guo told her and then went back into his office.

Stepping out of the courthouse that afternoon of October 27, Ms. Wen burst into tears.

Her parents, Ms. Zhang Haixia (张海霞) and Mr. Wen Yingzhou (文英洲), were illegally tried by Xiangfang District Court on October 10. Ms. Zhang appeared absentminded before and during the trial. She couldn't recognize her lawyer when he visited her the day before the trial. Her family suspects she was given drugs at the detention center and this caused her bizarre behavior.

Ms. Zhang is a Falun Gong practitioner, but her husband Mr. Wen is not. The couple was illegally arrested on the morning of June 18, 2014, for having a satellite dish at home to watch NTDTV programs, a US-based uncensored Chinese TV.
