(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Tian Xiaozhi, 61, is from Jinsong, Chaoyang District, Beijing. She is a retired teacher from the Beijing Automobile Industry School.

She was illegally arrested in January 2008 and sentenced to Beijing Women’s Forced Labor Camp for two years.

Ms. Tian was again arrested on November 14, 2012, during the Chinese Communist Party’s 18th Congress, and has been held for nine months.

The police took a long time before notifying her family about her detention. They asked for clothing and money to be brought to the Chaoyang Detention Center. Ms. Tian was later transferred to the Beijing No. 1 Detention Center.

Ms. Tian’s family hired an attorney in early 2013. She was transferred to the Chaoyang Detention Center. She had to wait several months for her case to be processed.

According to rumors, a trial was held on July 12, and Ms. Tian was sentenced to a 3-year prison term. She submitted an appeal before the August 19 deadline.

Ms. Tian has not informed her family about the 3-year sentence because she worries how it would affect them. Her husband had heart bypass surgery and returned home after a 2-month stay in a hospital when Ms. Tian was arrested. He still is bedridden. Ms. Tian’s mother suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and cannot take care of herself. Her elderly mother-in-law is also physically weak.

Ms. Tian’s family has not received any notification from the court. The lawyer told them that Ms. Tian did not acknowledge any of the charges against her.
