(Minghui.org) Dalian practitioner Mr. Wang Jian was arrested by Dalian City police on July 6, 2012, simply for installing a satellite TV receiver. Mr. Wang's family attempted to file a complaint of abuse of authority at the Zhongshan District Procuratorate and Dalian City Procuratorate. The Procuratorate staff admitted that there were no legal grounds for the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. However, they refused to accept the family's complaint.
On July 6, 2012, Mr. Wang was arrested by officers from Minzhu Square Police Station in the Zhongshan District of Dalian. He was at work in Shahekou, Dalian. The officers then ransacked his home. Officials cited the reason for the arrest was installing a New Tang Dynasty satellite TV receiver. Mr. Wang is being held at the local detention center.
On December 24, 2012, Mr. Wang's family filed a complaint against police officers Yu Qunbin, Qu Gaoyan, and Zhang Rentao at the Zhongshan District Procuratorate for abusing police authority, making an arrest outside their jurisdiction, the illegal detention of Mr. Wang, and the ransacking of his home. The Procuratorate refused to accept their complaint and told the family, “If you're asking if there is any legal basis for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, we can tell you that there is none. You can go to the Procuratorate's window at the Dalian City Appeals Office. They coordinate the Falun Gong issues.”
The family then went to the Dalian Appeals Office. A Procuratorate clerk said, “Falun Gong has been labeled a cult by the government.” The family replied, “The government never stated that. Which law are you citing? Jiang Zemin labeled Falun Gong that on his own.” The clerk got upset and said, “Then you should go talk to Jiang Zemin. The Political and Legal Affairs Committee (responsible for Falun Gong issues) does not have any connection with this appeals office. I don't have the authority to detain or prosecute anyone. I am not in charge of Falun Gong cases.”
The family's appeal and complaints were rudely and illegally rejected. The government authorities mentioned in this case acted against the law or ignored citizens' complaints. Mr. Wang's elderly father is now left unattended, and his son is being subjected to illegal detention, persecution, and loss of employment.
