Four Practitioners from Chongqing Facing Trial

(Minghui.org) Practitioners from Jiulongpo District, Chongqing, including Mr. Li Xiangdong, Ms. Zhan Lanzhen, Ms. Wang Yun, and Mr. Yang Benhui were arrested in August 2012, and have been held for several months. They are currently being held at the Huayan Detention Center. They were reportedly charged by the Public Prosecution Department and will be tried.

Agents from the Chongqing Political and Legal Affairs Committee (PLAC) directed officers from the Domestic Security Division of Jiulongpo District and Banan District to arrest Mr. Li Xiangdong, his wife, Ms. Zhan Lanzhen, and over twenty other practitioners on August 19, 2012.

Ren, the director of the Xiejia Police Station, led eight officers to Mr. Li Xiangdong's home, located in Xiejiawan. They kicked open the door and confiscated a computer, a printer, thousands of yuan in cash, and other property. The couple is still being held. The agents plan to continue holding them because they were in possession of Falun Dafa books and truth clarification materials.

Mr. Li graduated from Yuzhou University with distinction in 1991. He subsequently worked at the Jiangbei No. 3 Radio Factory. Because of his excellent performance, he was promoted to director of the Technology Department, Huashu Video Equipment Co. He was honored each year for his good performance. He started practicing Falun Dafa in 1995. Wherever he is, whether it be at home or at work, he works hard and shoulders responsibility. From his neighbors' point of view, he is a very good person.

Mr. Li and his family have been mistreated ever since Jiang's regime started the persecution of Falun Dafa in July 1999. He was tortured for almost two years at a labor camp. He later tried to clarify the truth by broadcasting a video and was subsequently sentenced to fifteen years in prison. His mother has been arrested and held at labor camps many times. His younger brother was also sentenced to prison.

After Mr. Li and his wife were arrested on August 19, 2012, his mother appealed for his case, and attempted to sue the agents of the Jiulongpo District Domestic Security Division and the Xiejiawan Police Station who ransacked her son's home and arrested him. However, she got no result. She later hired an attorney from Beijing to defend the couple. When the attorney arrived in Chongqing, Su, director of the Jiulongpo District Domestic Security Division, became upset and created many obstructions for the attorney and Mr. Li's mother. Officers from the Yangjiaping Police Station went to the hotel where the attorney was staying at 1:00 a.m. to harass him. Officers from the Huangquping Neighborhood Committee also asked a person to go to the home of Mr. Li's mother to harass her, and asked why she had hired an attorney.

Officers from the Chongqing 610 Office directed the court and planned to try Ms. Li and Ms. Zhan, along with two other practitioners, after the Chinese New Year (February 10) at the Baguocheng Court in Jiulongpo District.

Song Hong, secretary of the Jiulongpo PLAC, was the deputy chief of Chongqing 610 Office and had been involved in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners.
