(Minghui.org) Mr. Li Decheng is a 66-year practitioner in Gaizhou City, Liaoning Province. Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched the persecution in 1999, everyone in Mr. Li's family has been persecuted: from being illegally arrested and imprisoned to being sentenced several times for not giving up their belief. Even his aged father-in-law and younger son, who had not yet begun to practice Falun Gong, were affected. The family scattered. Since 1999, they have been together for only three years.

Now Mr. Li is teetering between life and death. He just regained consciousness after being in a coma that resulted from his being tortoured in prison. His older son, Li Guang, was arrested from home and imprisoned.

Dafa Cultivation Brings Harmony to the Family

Mr. Li Decheng was born on October 3, 1946. Before retiring, he worked at the Dongguan Subsidiary Foodstuff Factory in Gaizhou City. His wife was an actress in the Pingju Opera Troupe in Gaizhou City. His father-in-law used to be the director of the Pingju Opera. His family later went into business. In September 1997, Mr. Li's wife began to practice Falun Gong after a friend told her about it. In only one month, Mr. Li saw a great change in his wife and began to practice as well, and he quit his bad habit of drinking. After practicing, he recovered from all his illnesses, including prolapse of the lumbar intervertebral disc and serious stomach illness, without medical treatment. Later, his older son, Li Guang, also began to practice Falun Gong after witnessing the big change in his parents. The whole family enjoyed great harmony.

The CCP Destroys the Family

Mr. Li Decheng has been imprisoned three times for a total of 10 years.

Around November 2000 he was sentenced to one-and-a-half years of forced labor by the Police Department in Haicheng City, Liaoning Province. Later, his family had to move to escape police harassment.

On January 29, 2003, all five members in Mr. Li's family were illegally arrested by Wang Hongkui and other police officers from the Ba Yu Juan Domestic Security Division in Yingkou City. Their home was ransacked. Only the non-practitioners (Mr. Li's father-in-law and younger son) were released. Mr. Li, his wife, Ms. Sun Qinghua; and their older son, Li Guang, were taken to Ba Yu Juan Detention Center. All three were sentenced by the Ba Yu Juan District Court, Mr. Li, to seven-and-a-half years; Ms. Sun, to seven years; and Mr. Li Guang, to eight years. Mr. Li and his son were admitted to Jinzhou Prison. Ms. Sun was incarcerated in Liaoning Women's Prison. Mr. Li's father-in-law, who was in his 80s at that, time was sent to the "Elderly Apartment" by relatives, and the younger son (in his early 20s), then became homeless and moved from place to place.

Mr. Li Decheng was released from the Jinzhou Prison when his term ended on November 28, 2009. His wife and older son were released earlier, and his father-in-law was located and returned home. The family was together after years of tribulation. Mr. Li Guang later married and had a child, and the four generations enjoyed being together.

On the night of October 12, 2011, Mu Deqiang from Gaizhou City Domestic Security Division and his subordinates and Zhang Guanghai, director of the Dongcheng Police Station, and his subordinates arrested Mr. Li Decheng. On the morning of December 21 the Municipal Court in Gaizhou City put Mr. Li on trial. On February 14, 2012, judge Chen Wei sentenced Mr. Li to six years. Mr. Li was taken to the 8th Division of Nanguanling Prison in Dalian City.

During the 18th CCP Congress in 2012, Mr. Li had a brainstem hemorrhage as a result of being tortured in prison. He lost consciousness and was hospitalized for emergency treatment in the Shahekou District Central Hospital on November 17. His older son, Mr. Li Guang, was arrested from home on October 30 and taken to Ba Yu Juan Detention Center. Li Guang's wife and their young child went around trying to get her husband released.

Mr. Li Decheng Near Death in Prison, His Wife and Son Arrested

On the evening of October 30, 2012, police officers Wang Hongkui from the Ba Yu Juan District Domestic Security Division and another five to six officers broke into Mr. Li Guang's home with a master key. Beyond showing total disregard for Mr. Li's father-in-law, who was 90 years old, they grabbed two computers and some other items, including Dafa books. They arrested Li Guang and took him to Ba Yu Juan Detention Center.

At 8:00 a.m. on November 8, the police again broke into Mr. Li Guang's house and arrested his mother and his non-practitioner younger brother and took them to the Domestic Security Division, interrogated them, and detained them until about noon. At about 9:00 the same day, Wang Hongkui from the Domestic Security Division and others broke into the clothing store run by Mr. Li Guang's wife. They searched the store and confiscated a box of Dafa books and about 600 yuan in cash.

That same day, Nanguanling Prison in Dalian City began to institute measures to “transform” Falun Gong practitioners. The guards handcuffed the practitioners to heaters and deprived them of sleep for 24 hours. Mr. Li Decheng, who was in the 8th Division, was tortured almost to death and had to be hospitalized in the Shahekou District Central Hospital on October 17, remaining unconscious for over 40 days thereafter.

After Mr. Li's wife and younger son were informed of Mr. Li's critical condition, they rushed to Dalian and rented lodging and kept watch in the Intensive Care Unit in the hospital. Their older son remained in Ba Yu Juan Detention Center.

The Prison Handcuffs a Dying Man in ICU, Then Covers up the Truth

Mr. Li Decheng had a brainstem hemorrhage as a result of being tortured in Nanguanling Prison. The doctor said that he would not survive for longer than three or four days. The warden declared that it was because Mr. Li fell down when he washed his face, not because of a physical blow, and that there was no visible injury. Mr. Li's family members knew the warden was lying. The warden promised Mr. Li's family that when Mr. Li was able to take care of himself, he could apply for release for medical treatment.

The old man remained unconscious and handcuffed. His family asked for the cuffs to be taken off, but the guards said that if they did, they would be punished because the Procuratorate came to inspect them every few days.

The warden gave his consent for the family to play (Dafa) music for Mr. Li. He then regained some consciousness and feeling in half of his body. Then the guards monitoring him always took away the MP3 player used to play the music. The family members negotiated with them twice, but the MP3 was eventually taken away. They didn't allow Mr. Li to listen to the music. Was it because they did not want Mr. Li to regain consciousness and tell what had been done to him?

Before Mr. Li was out of danger, he was moved from his private room to another room with other severely ill patients. He is still unable to eat on his own.

Still handcuffed, Mr. Li Decheng is not yet able to take care of himself. His family members are negotiating to secure his release for medical treatment. After arguing with the warden, the management of the prison told the family to fill out an application.
