On February 24, 2012, officials at Gaizhou Court sentenced him to another 6 years in prison. When Mr. Li's family told the court to provide evidence for their decision, they were made to leave the court. Mr. Li later appealed.
Mr. Li's wife started practicing Falun Gong in July 1997, after a friend recommended it to her. She believed that Zhuan Falun teaches people the value of virtue. After witnessing the character improvements in his wife, Mr. Li also started practicing in October 1997 and immediately quit drinking alcohol. Before he began practicing, he suffered from lower back and severe stomach problems for many years. He almost lost the ability to work. These and other ailments completely disappeared soon after practicing. Mr. Li's eldest son also started to practice Falun Gong.
