(Minghui.org) Police arrested and detained me in July 1999 for hiding a murderer. Disappointed and bitter, my future seemed hopeless. I screamed and ran around irrationally.

One day, the guards said that several Falun Gong practitioners would be detained in my cell. I was apprehensive. Like everyone else in China, I had listened to the Chinese Communist Party's lies about the practice, so I did not know what to expect. My sister-in-law, who was detained for the same reason as me, reassured me and said Falun Gong practitioners were good people.

As soon as the practitioners arrived, the guards immediately dropped everything else and started to mistreat them. They swore at them, beat them, and forced them to write statements that denounced Falun Gong. As a result of the beatings, some practitioners' gums were bleeding. Many were covered in bruises and their legs turned purple.

When practitioners went on hunger strikes to protest the mistreatment, the guards tortured them with force-feeding. I saw several guards pressing hard on a female practitioner's limbs and head, while inserting a thick rubber tube into her nostril. The horrifying image of that practitioner shaking and struggling because of the pain left a long-lasting image in my mind.

This was the first time in my life I saw people hold onto their belief despite high pressure and severe torture. I was curious: How could these practitioners remain calm and positive in spite of the harsh treatment? It seemed that their inner strength gave them the power to overcome such unbearable hardship.

I started to talk with them and was eager to listen to what they had to say. By talking with practitioners, I felt uplifted and regained some hope for the future.

One practitioner gave me a copy of Zhuan Falun. I liked to read it very much. Whenever I opened the book and turned to the page with Master Li Hongzhi's photo, I always saw Master smiling at me. I calmed down and stopped worrying about my life. Every day I studied the Fa and did the exercises with other practitioners.

Master said in Zhuan Falun:

“As a practitioner, your path of life will be changed from now on. My fashen will rearrange it for you. How is it rearranged? How many years does a person still have in life? One will not know it oneself. Some people may get a serious illness after a year or half a year, or they may be ill for several years. Some people may suffer cerebral thrombosis or other illnesses, and cannot move at all. How can you practice cultivation for the rest of your life? We must fix all of them for you and prevent these things from occurring. We, however, must make it clear ahead of time that we can only do these things for true practitioners. They are not allowed to be done casually for an everyday person. Otherwise, it is the same as doing a bad deed. For everyday people, things such as birth, old age, illness, and death all have karmic relationships, and they cannot be undermined at will.”

I thus decided to become a practitioner and wholeheartedly began cultivating.

One day, a guard told me that my case would soon go to trial. I was sentenced to three years in prison, to be served as a five-year probation. Thus, I returned home several days later.

I am very grateful for Teacher's help. I've been given a new life!
