Additional Persecution News from China – October 19, 2013 (8 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 6 provinces. According to this report, 6 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 8 practitioners were illegally arrested .

1. [Shanghai] Ms. Tang Chanqiu Imprisoned

Ms. Tang Chanqiu was arrested in April or May 2012 and sentenced to 3.5 years in prison. She is being held at the Shanghai Songjiang Women's Prison.

2. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Five Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Li Wenhua, Ms. Liu Li, Mr. Jiang Wei, and Ms. Xin Xiuyun were arrested by officers from the Fengman District Hongqi Police Station on the evening of October 17, 2013.

Mr. Sun Changsheng was arrested at his store by officers from the Chuanying District Beishan Police Station at noon on October 18, 2013. His home was ransacked and his niece, who is not a practitioner, was also arrested.

3. [Chongqing] Mr. Zhou Dulun Detained

Mr. Zhou Dulun's family received a notification on October 17, 2013, that Mr. Zhou had been arrested by officers from the Sha District Police Department. He is being held in the 13 ^th unit of the Shapingba District Baiheling Detention Center.

4. [Muling City, Heilongjiang] Ms. Liu Xiuju Forced to Leave Home

Ms. Liu Xiuju was recently released from prison. Soon thereafter, Communist Party secretary of the Jinbu Village and officers from the Maqiaohe Police Station broke into her home and demanded that she write a guarantee statement to renounce her belief in Falun Gong. Ms. Liu had no choice but to leave home to avoid another arrest and imprisonment.

5. [Macheng City, Hubei Province] Mr. Yi Jiahai Detained

Mr. Yi Jiahai, 62, a retired principal of the Wanyizhongxin Elementary School in Wangfudian Town, was arrested at home by officers from the Wangfudian Police Station on the morning of October 15, 2013. Police ransacked his home and confiscated two computers, a printer, and other belongings.

Mr. Yi was taken to the Shengmagang Police Station and then transferred to the Macheng City Detention Center on October 16, 2013.

6. [Jianping County, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhao Hongli on Hunger Strike

Mr. Zhao Hongli was recently arrested and detained at the Jianping County Detention Center. He has been on a hunger strike for about 20 days to protest the persecution. His life is in danger. Authorities refuse to release him, and his family has not been allowed to see him.

7. [Anyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Liu Fuyu Imprisoned

Ms. Liu Fuyu, in her 50s, was sentenced to a 10-year prison term by the Lizhou Court three years ago. She is being held at the Xinxiang Women's Prison.

8. [Dazhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Chen Dexiu Subject Solitary Confinement in a Small Cell

Ms. Chen Dexiu and Ms. Li Dehui were arrested outside their dormitory by four officers from the Tongchuan District Domestic Security Division on the afternoon of September 13, 2013. They are being held at the Xiwaifuxing Detention Center.

Ms. Chen has been placed in solitary confinement for refusing to write the three statements to renounce her belief in Falun Gong.
