Over 60 Falun Gong Practitioners Subjected to Brainwashing in Jilin Prison

(Minghui.org) Jilin Prison has long held a large number of Falun Gong practitioners from Jilin Province who were illegally sentenced to heavy penalties. According to reliable sources, as of January 2012, over 60 practitioners are being detained in Jilin Prison. These practitioners are subjected to brainwashing sessions by prison guards.

Under the command of prison warden Li Shijin and deputy warden Geng Mingcai, a so-called “Educational Brigade” was formed to persecute practitioners, and is located on the fifth floor of the new building in the Eighth Supervision Unit of Jilin Prison. Brigade staff include captain Wang Yuanchun and guards Wang Junjie, Pang Hongjun (nicknamed “Little Ghost”) and a person with the surname “Dou.”

Over 40 practitioners were previously detained in the Eighth Supervision Unit. On February 25, over 20 practitioners from other supervision units were transferred to the 8^th Supervision Unit (except from the 11^th Supervision Unit known as the old TB unit, which held six practitioners including Sun Changjun, Ye Songchang, Zhang Hongwei, Cai Limin, Wang Xiaoguang, and Wang Xiaohu). At this time, there are approximately 60 practitioners detained in the 8^th Supervision Unit being subjected to brainwashing.

Practitioner Liu Yuhe from the 5^th Supervision Unit was handcuffed and taken to the 8^th Supervision Unit. Li Guangshi from the 6^th Supervision Unit refused to go to the 8^th Supervision Unit, and was subsequently placed in solitary confinement to undergo continued persecution. Li Futien, Chen Hongxiang, and Shen Quanhui from the 7^th Supervision Unit were taken to the 8^th Supervision Unit. Guards handcuffed them to a door bar and shocked them with high-voltage electric batons in front of the prisoners. Practitioners detained in the 8^th Supervision Unit are supervised by prisoners, who forced them to sit and stand for extended periods. They also implemented a “close-end” persecution tactic against practitioners, depriving them of contact with other inmates. Recently, they took practitioners to the prison hospital due to their poor physical condition.

There are approximately 16 prison guards in the 8^th Supervision Unit; 5 or 6 are interns. This supervision unit has more guards than other units, which usually have about 10. There are eight prison cells in the “Educational Brigade” inside the 8^th Supervision Unit; each can accommodate 16 inmates. Each cell is monitored by two guards in shifts. Practitioners and disobedient prisoners are often subjected to electric shock treatment.

Practitioners admitted to the 8^th Supervision Unit are first subjected to electric shock treatment by the guards. Guards then ask them to write a statement denouncing their practice. If they refuse to cooperate, the guards then force them to stand on a small brick or sit on a small bench for extended periods. Guards order two inmates to monitors them closely; this is known as the “cascade system.” The guards force the prisoners to use a variety of methods to torture practitioners.

Practitioners detained in the 8^th Supervision Unit include Jiang Tao, Zhang Kaiping (41 years old, sentenced to seven years in jail), Jin Longzhe, Zhang Xiushan, Cai Xiangjun, Gao Zhengang, Li Zhanwu, Wang Hongliang, Liu Yang, Song Sheng, Liu Min, Cao Zhonghua, Liu Gequn, Wu Zilong, Shu Huaiming, Diao Shujun, Wang Hongge, Kang Baoxuan, Fang Huanzhang (56 years old, sentenced to 6 years), Xu Hao, Han Lihui, Zhang Chunyu, Meng Xiangfei, Sun Lianbao, Tang Yibin, Li Dehai, Wei Jinshuang, Wang Jing, Zhao Tao, Hu Xile, Liu Hong, Meng Xiangqi, Zhang Xingcai, Jin Guangri, Jiang Tao, Chen Hongxiang, Piao Guangzhu, Ma Guohong (39 years old), Liu Yuhe (from Huadian, sentenced to 8 years), Ao Yongjie (from Inner Mongolia), Zhu Dexiang (from Jiutai City, sentenced to 12 years), Sun Changjun (Wangqing County, Yanji, sentenced to 17 years), Wang Jian (from Changchun Auto Company), Yu Qingyuan (41 years old from Gongzhuling, sentenced to 4 years), Ma Desheng (from Qingyuan, Liaoning Province), Zhang Wenfeng (from Dehui), Shen Quanhui (Yanji), Liu Haixiao (Shuangyang District, Changchun), Tan Qiucheng (from Yushu), Yuan Junfeng (from Yushu), Yun Qingbin, Wang Xiaohu (from Huadian), Yang Weihua (from Songyuan); Zhang Heping (from Gongzhuling), Zhang Hongwei (from Tonghua), Ye Songchang (Tonghua), Sun Qian (from Dehui, sentenced 12 years), Sui Fuxue (78 years old), Li Futian (from Gongzhuling), Luan Dewu (from Gongzhuling), Wang Yancai (Gongzhuling, sentenced to 8 years), Li Guangshi (from Yanji), Cai Limin, and Wang Xiaoguang (from Songyuan, sentenced to 10 years).
