Zhang Yiming, Teacher from Bohai Petroleum Professional College, Arrested Again

 

(Minghui.org) Zhang Yiming, a teacher at Bohai Petroleum Professional School in Renqiu City, Hebei Province, was taken away by agents from Bohai Police Station and the college security department on August 15, 2012. After being detained for nearly a month, he was sent to a so-called “study class” for brainwashing. His family has not seen him since August 14 and they are very worried about him.

Mr. Zhang and Ms. Cao Sufang were both teachers at the Electrical Engineering Department of the school who suffered persecution for practicing Falun Gong.

Ms. Cao suffered from hypoglycemia before practicing Falun Gong in 1997. She often felt dizzy. She also had serious breast lobular hyperplasia. She had taken numerous medications. The experts at the hospital suggested she have surgery. After practicing Falun Gong for less than three months, the tumor miraculously disappeared. Her hypoglycemia was also healed. She was completely changed.

Mr. Zhang suffered from intractable insomnia before practicing Falun Gong. Due to insomnia, he also got high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and so on. The insomnia tortured him for more than two years. He also took countless medications. After starting to practice Falun Gong in 1998, in less than a month, his insomnia was thoroughly cured. He was more dedicated to work, and his whole family became harmonious.

In 1999 Jiang Zemin's regime started to persecute Falun Gong. Ms. Cao Sufang was forbidden to teach because she would not give up Falun Gong. She was paid just enough to cover her minimum living expenses. In 2001, she was forced to retire early. Later the school forced her to move out of the local city. Even though Mr. Zhang Yiming had been a teacher for almost 30 years, he was also forbidden to teach because of his belief in Falun Gong. The school and the national security team often made difficulties for him and persecuted him.

On March 3, 2011, Mr. Zhang Yiming was teaching. When a teacher from another department convinced Mr. Zhang to leave the classroom, Su Weiguo and someone from the college security department twisted his arms and pushed him to the security department office. The security department director, Li Yuping; school police station director, Zheng Jun; and others took Mr. Zhang's house key and gave it to Yang Fengrong, who was also working at the security department. The national security team captain, Han Yan, and a dozen others raided Mr. Zhang's house. They also arrested his wife. They were sent to brainwashing center in Langfang that same day.

During the two months the Mr. Zhang and his wife were held in brainwashing center, national security team captain Han Yan, Li Yuping from school security department, Zheng Jun, electrical engineering department director Wang Jianguo, Yang Jun from the 610 Office, and others often went to the brainwashing center to threaten Mr. Zhang Yiming, saying, “If you are not 'transformed', you will be sentenced to labor camp, or prison.” Zhang Yiming was devastated both mentally and physically. After leaving the brainwashing center, Mr. Zhang still sometimes fell into a trance and had severe insomnia. Even so, the school continued harassing him. They did not allow him to teach. The school leaders said, “Only after Zhang's thoughts are consistent with the Communist Party will he be allowed to return to the classroom.”

Yang Jun, the director of the 610 Office at China Petroleum Administration Bureau, often went to school to pressure Mr. Zhang. Yang forced him to talk about his “understandings.” Also he organized a “helper” team consisting of staff from the college security department and the electrical engineering department, with the aim of brainwashing Mr. Zhang. This really stressed Mr. Zhang.

In mid-May 2011, Jing Huajie and Wang Jianwen from the national security team, coordinated by Li Yuping, called Mr. Zhang to the school security office. They sneered at him, saying, “Why not just cook some meals and drink a few glasses of wine? Why do you stick with Falun Gong?” When Mr. Zhang told them Falun Gong healed his illnesses, they laughed at him.

In June 2011, Mr. Zhang asked the principal if he could go back to teaching. Li Yuping immediately called Han Yan, Jing Huajie, Wang Jianwen, and three others from the national security team to come to the college. They ordered Mr. Zhang Yiming to state his opinions on Falun Gong and sign some statements. They threatened him, “If you do not sign them, you will be arrested.” Facing these unreasonable demands, Zhang Yiming had to leave the college.

Just before October 1, 2011, Han Yan, Jing Huajie, Wang Jianwen, and Ma Xuejun (the new director of the college security department), and Yan Xianghuan (chair of the electrical engineering department), went to Zhang Yiming's hometown. They asked him to come back to the school. However, after Mr. Zhang Yiming returned, they did not let him teach, nor did they arrange any work for him. At the end of 2011, the “Social Stabilization” office of Hebei Province went to North China Petroleum Administration Bureau to host meetings. Ma Xuejun and Xue Cailong (another electrical engineering department director) forced Mr. Zhang to attend.

In May 2012, Xue Cailong told Mr. Zhang to go to the department office to help since he was going to attend a meeting. Just a few moment after he arrived at the office, Jing Huajie and Wang Jianwen from the national security team arrived. They held a camera and claimed they were there for a return visit. Jing Huajie threatened again, “If you insist on practicing, we will send you inside (labor camp/prison).” Wang Jianwen kept on swearing. After about 20 minutes, they went away.

Students finished their exams by the end of June. Since Mr. Zhang had not been assigned any work, he went home. On June 28, the college sent a car to take him back, claiming Mr. Zhang was assigned to do logistics work for a training class. At that time, Mr. Zhang was out of the house running errands. That afternoon, the college sent the department chair, Xue Cailong, to drop by Zhang Yiming's home. He told Mr. Zhang's family that he had to return to the college by July 1, or else they would consider him absent without leave. Mr. Zhang hurried back to the school. When he got there, college administrator Wang Zhiqiang and others claimed that he had left school without notice and they would regard it as being absent without permission.

On July 26, 2012, Mr. Zhang was busy with the accommodations for students in the training class. The department chair called him to tell him that some people were going to see him. Mr. Zhang knew somebody would again try to harass him, so he left the college. On August 14, the department chair texted him to come back. Considering the pressure on the department chair, Mr. Zhang returned.

At around 9:00 a.m. on August 15 while he was working, Zhang Yiming was taken by police from national security team and school security team to the Huayou Detention Center. He was detained there for 28 days. During that time, the detention center called his family and lied that he needed money. His family deposited 1000 yuan in an account belonging to a person named Sun Xinjing. The detention center also implied that if they paid more money they could get him released, saying: “Why don't you find somebody to help get him out?” Later the family spent about 10,000 yuan to find some people with some power to help.

On September 12, National Security Team captain Han Yan called Mr. Zhang's brother. He said the Public Security Bureau had decided to let Zhang Yiming be "released on bail." He told Mr. Zhang's family to go to detention center on September13 to complete the paperwork. However, when the family arrived at the detention center, Han Yan said that Mr. Zhang had already been picked up by the school, but the family still needed to do the paperwork. So his family finished the paperwork without ever seeing him. When his family went to the school security department, director Zheng Jun said, “Zhang Yiming has already been sent to the brainwashing center.” Mr. Zhang's family had been deceived yet again.
