Update Regarding the Persecution of Mr. Zhang Yiming and Ms. Cao Sufang

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Zhang Yiming, a teacher from the Mechanical and Electrical Department of the Bohai Petroleum Professional College in Renqiu City, Hebei Province, was arrested by officers from the Huabei Oilfield 610 Office, Bohai Domestic Security Division, the college 610 Office and college police station on the morning of March 3, 2011, while he was teaching a class. Yang Jun from the Huabei Oilfield 610 Office spat on him and verbally abused him as he was being carried outside to a waiting car. He was taken to the college security department.

They took Mr. Zhang's house key and entered his home. When his wife, Ms. Cao Sufang, a retired teacher from the Mechanical and Electrical Department, came home at around 10:30 p.m., she was immediately pushed to the ground, and one of them quickly took her photograph. A lot of people were in their home, and they refused to show any identification. They also tried to force Ms. Cao to sign their documentation. She refused, and was taken to the college security department.

Mr. Zhang's home was ransacked, and they confiscated a computer, printer, Dafa books and a picture of Master Li Hongzhi. Ms. Cao and Mr. Zhang were transferred to the Langfang Brainwashing Center at around 11 p.m. that evening.

Ms. Cao felt dizzy and nauseous after the brainwashing sessions. Her blood pressure was very high and she could not eat anything. Even drinking water would make her vomit. The next day, her heart rate was very fast and her whole body went through convulsions. She was sent to the hospital, where she was injected with tranquilizers and was given an IV. Ms. Cao quickly lost a lot of weight and her condition became very serious. She was detained in the brainwashing center for 30 days.

On April 1, Ms. Cao lost consciousness a few times, and was taken to the hospital. Officials from the brainwashing center were worried that she might die, so they asked the college 610 Office to take her back. Li Yuping, head of the college 610 Office, kept hold of their house key until Ms. Cao was released on April 2.

When Mr. Zhang was taken to the brainwashing center, the head of the Bohai Domestic Security Division, Han Yan; police officer, Zheng Jun; Yang Jun, Li Yuping and a person by called Chen Bin took turns threatening Mr. Zhang. They told him that he would be sentenced if he refused to renounce his belief in Falun Gong. Han Yan once brought over ten officers to intimidate and threaten him. Li Yuping took Mr. Zhang back to his work unit at the college on April 28.

Mr. Zhang submitted a request to Li Yuping and the secretary of the Political and Judiciary Committee, Zhao Liren, expressing his wish to resume his work. However, Yang Jun went to the college the next day and told the officials there and at the police station to set up a team to get Mr. Zhang to renounce his belief. Li Yuping, Han Yan and others continually harassed and threatened Mr. Zhang. Eventually, he was forced to resign from his job and move away from the college.
