(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners held a rally in front of the Chinese Consulate in Montreal on July 14, 2026. They called on Beijing to end its 27-year persecution of Falun Gong in China, and in English, Chinese, and French told people what is happening to practitioners in China. They urged the international community to work together to end this human rights disaster. Many passersby stopped to listen and signed the petition, supporting their efforts to end the crimes against humanity. One young man told a practitioner, “You are doing the right thing!”

The practitioners pointed out that the persecution is based on lies and violence. “Falun Gong is a meditation practice and focuses on improving one’s mind and body. It adheres to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and includes five sets of exercises that improve mental and physical fitness. It teaches people to be kind, upright, and selfless,” said a practitioner, “However, under the Chinese regime, those who hold such beliefs have been imprisoned, tortured, and slandered with overwhelming propaganda. Countless practitioners were disabled, died, or had their organs removed against their will while still alive. Millions have been arrested, incarcerated or sentenced to imprisonment.”
In the past 27 years, Falun Gong practitioners have never stopped raising awareness of the brutal persecution. More and more people in China have seen the evil nature of the Chinese regime, and so far over 460 million Chinese people have quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to separate themselves from the crimes committed by the Party. Practitioners hope that more people will choose a better future by quitting the CCP.
Practitioner Calls for Help to Rescue Mother
Ms. Cong called on Beijing to release her mother, Ms. Cong Lanying, who was incarcerated by the police for refusing to renounce her faith.
Ms. Cong said that her mother had severe heart and spinal problems. The chronic pain made her want to end her life at one point. She took up Falun Gong in 1997, and, without any medical treatment, her illnesses disappeared. Unfortunately she, who was almost 80, was incarcerated for exercising her basic rights—doing the Falun Gong exercises in public and writing to the government agencies to express her concerns about the persecution. She was sentenced to four years in prison in 2023, and is currently locked up in Shandong Provincial Women’s Prison.
Ms. Cong talked about the teachings of Falun Gong and said the CCP violates the practitioners’ human rights. She asked the public to help raise awareness of these atrocities so that they could end the persecution and these crimes against humanity.
People Sign a Petition to End the Persecution

After Caterina, a social worker, learned about the persecution of practitioners in China, she signed a petition demanding the CCP end it. “Hearing how the practitioners in China are subjected to this persecution really makes me sad,” she said. She believes that it’s important to continue raising awareness because “it brings changes.”
Caterina admired Falun Gong’s guiding principles: Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. “Everyone should embrace these values, and be honest and respect others and treat people kindly. Everyone should do that. Obviously the CCP opposes these values, which is sad,” she said.

Anton Maximovsky, creative director of a content creation company, said he was emotional after reading the practitioners’ banners, “As a Christian and former citizen of the Soviet Union, I know all too well how evil the communists are. I understand the suffering and how you feel. I hope the persecution ends soon.”
He agreed with the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, “They are essential, and are important qualities of being human. They allow us to get along with each other. We should embrace freedom, not persecution.”
When he was told about the CCP’s transnational repression of Falun Gong, he said the Canadian government should take a stronger stance. “As a Canadian, I am disappointed to see our government cooperating with Beijing,” he said, “People in China are being persecuted and tortured. From the moral standpoint, we shouldn’t collaborate with China.”
Charles from Quebec said everyone should speak out against the persecution. (Minghui.org)
Charles is a college student from Quebec. After he came to Montreal to study, he often saw practitioners collecting signatures on a petition to end the persecution. At first he didn’t sign. After practitioners repeatedly explained why they were there and about the persecution, he gradually understood the significance of the petition. “I realized that they are doing a good thing; they are delivering a very good message to the world so that people can know about the violence taking place in China, and stop it from happening,” he said.
Charles and his friend signed the petition. He said, “Everyone needs to speak up regarding this issue.”
In the past 27 years, Falun Gong practitioners have continued to tell people about the persecution in China. People now understand what’s happening. They signed the petition, and expressed their hope that one day the persecution would end and the freedom of belief preserved.
