(Minghui.org) A 44-year-old woman in Yingkou City, Liaoning Province, stood trial on October 15, 2026, because she practices Falun Gong. She testified against the detention center guards for torturing her and drawing blood from her heart.
Ms. Xiu Xiaoxue took up Falun Gong in 1997 and soon recovered from her severe depression. After the Chinese Communist Party launched a nationwide campaign against Falun Gong, she held firm to her faith and was repeatedly targeted. She was put in a labor camp in 2000, when she was only 18 years old. She was arrested again in 2002 and sentenced to seven years. She endured unspeakable torture in prison. Latest Arrest
Ms. Xiu’s latest arrest took place on May 15, 2026, when she and another practitioner Ms. Bian Dongna talked to people about Falun Gong at a fair. Several plainclothes officers surrounded them and called in a SWAT team when they resisted being arrested. The police pushed Ms. Xiu down to the ground. They used so much force that her pants were torn. Many bystanders were also held down on the ground but they were soon released.
Ms. Xiu and Ms. Bian were handcuffed and taken to their respective homes. Ms. Bian’s family noted she had blood at the corner of her mouth. Among the over ten officers that raided her home were two women officers in plainclothes. They did not show any IDs or a search warrant. They confiscated Ms. Bian’s Falun Gong books, the portrait of the Falun Gong founder, and a computer tower.
It is unclear what items were confiscated from Ms. Xiu’s home. Their families learned on May 18 that they had been put in the Yingkou City Detention Center. Ms. Bian’s husband was summoned to the Yingkou City Police Department the next day to sign several pieces of paperwork. He was not allowed to read them carefully and only saw they were dated May 15. He signed under pressure. He was told that his wife was interrogated three times but refused to answer any questions or sign the interrogation records.
Ms. Xiu’s father was summoned to the police department on May 21, but he refused to sign any paperwork.
Detention Center Abuse Exposed During Trial
Ms. Xiu stood Trial at the Zhanqian District Court on October 15. She was handcuffed and shackled throughout the nearly two-hour-long hearing. Her lawyer entered a not guilty plea for her.
Ms. Xiu’s family was stunned when they heard her say that the guards at the Yingkou City Detention Center drew a tube of blood from her heart, instead of from a vein. No reason was given for this unusual procedure.
Guard Dai Chunying (badge number 701166) instructed Ms. Xiu’s cellmates to isolate and abuse her. No one was allowed to talk to her, and she had to stand guard on duty and clean the toilet every day (when usually inmates took turns doing these things). Barred from using the restroom, she soiled her pants.
Ms. Xiu added that she once went on a hunger strike in protest and was force-fed. Her stomach was injured during the force-feeding. One of her legs felt cold and numb due to other forms of abuse she was subjected to.
It is unclear when a verdict would be issued. The case status of Ms. Bian is unknown.
