(Minghui.org) As translations of articles from the 22nd China Fahui were published one after another, Sylvia exclaimed, “All the articles touched me in some way. Of course, the authors weren’t speaking directly to me, but I recognized my shortcomings in cultivation from each one and I’m inspired and encouraged to improve.”
More Attentive to the Way We Tell People About the Persecution
What impressed Sylvia the most was the article, One Righteous Act Can Suppress Evil, which tells the story of a female Falun Dafa practitioner who helped an imprisoned fellow practitioner—she faced sudden harassment, deceit, and arrest with dignity and integrity.
Sylvia greatly admired the sincerity and persistence shown by this practitioner in the face of difficulties, as well as the decisiveness and candor she displayed while communicating with police and prison staff. She also praised the practitioner for successfully turning difficult situations into positive ones.
“The fact that the author, a fellow practitioner, was able to openly clarify the truth about the persecution to so many people under such immense pressure in mainland China helped me see my own shortcomings,” Sylvia explained. “For example, during local events to introduce Falun Dafa, even though I tried my best, passersby often said they didn’t have time and they walked away. I know this is related to my own state of mind, and I must strengthen my righteous thoughts so that more people will stop and listen to the truth. The article allowed me to see how the author remained calm and composed in the face of difficulties and dangers, without a trace of fear or unease. Her unwavering and steadfast righteous thoughts caused the evil factors that controlled bad people to vanish, so that those bad people no longer harmed her but left.”
She believes that in European societies that respect diversity and worldviews, maintaining a certain distance from others while being sensitive to their feelings is crucial. Europeans are very sensitive to qualities such as sincerity, calmness, compassion, respect, and tranquility. “I believe that friendliness, peace, and optimism built on a foundation of cultivation are the bridges to communication with others, just as the author of the article demonstrated,” she said.
Sylvia felt that this Chinese practitioner, whether speaking to police officers or strangers, always spoke with sincerity and simplicity, always considered the other person’s perspective and spoke in a reasonable and relatable way. This made Sylvia reflect on how she could do better in Europe, where humility and honesty are appreciated, and she felt the need to use effective and mutually respectful methods to introduce and discuss important topics. For example telling people, “This is my personal experience, you don’t have to agree. If you’re interested, I’m happy to share,” can spark curiosity and promote genuine communication. Even those confused about spiritual topics are more receptive to this approach.
Sylvia found that many people readily accept things that are relevant to their own lives, such as someone’s personal experience, rather than empty concepts. This means that instead of explaining what to believe, simply saying, “What has helped me personally? What has changed me?” is more likely to resonate with others, or at least prompt them to think, even if they don’t agree with or understand the faith itself.
Understanding the Importance of Righteous Thoughts
One day in 2012, Sylvia walked by the front gate of the Düsseldorf Train Station where she encountered Falun Dafa practitioners holding an information day event. A practitioner approached her and clarified the facts about the CCP’s brutal persecution in China, which caught Sylvia’s attention.
Because she knows the Communist Party did numerous bad deeds in the past, she was convinced that because the CCP persecutes it, Falun Dafa must be good. This prompted her to buy a copy of Zhuan Falun because she wanted to find out why the CCP was persecuting Falun Dafa. She read it in three nights, and then decided to contact a local group practice site. Two weeks later, Sylvia began practicing.
Sylvia said she’s read more than twenty translated articles from the China Fahui, and her biggest takeaway was understanding the importance of righteous thoughts. “Fellow practitioners in mainland China have continued to actively clarify the truth in such a dangerous and terrifying environment for so many years, which deeply touched me. It allowed me to witness the power of righteous thoughts and see my own shortcomings in cultivation. I am very grateful for the candid sharing and respect their diligence, perseverance, sincerity, and unwavering determination. I hope to continuously improve in strengthening my righteous thoughts and to better clarify the truth. Thank you, Master, for your patience.”
Articles in which cultivators share their understandings typically reflect an individual's perception at a point in time based on their cultivation state, and they are offered in the spirit of enabling mutual elevation.
