(Minghui.org) At least seven Beijing residents are still held in the Qianjin Prison because they practice Falun Gong.
Mr. Shi Shaoping was arrested on November 18, 2019 and sentenced to nine years on an unknown date.
Mr. Tan Shouli was arrested on March 6, 2022, sentenced to seven years and fined 7,000 yuan on September 27, 2023.
Mr. Jia Hongqi was arrested in 2022 and sentenced to three and a half years around July 2024.
The prison terms of Mr. Huang Wensheng, Mr. Ke Xingguo, Mr. Yang Xiliang, and Mr. Liu Zengqi are unknown.
Mr. Ke refused to renounce his faith and was forced to bend over while he climbed the stairs from the first floor to the third floor. When he shouted “Falun Dafa is good” he was sprayed in the face with three bottles of chili water. He was handcuffed and shackled and put in a solitary confinement cell.
Mr. Jia, 76, was bullied and verbally abused by multiple inmates. He became dazed as a result.
Mr. Liu was hit on the head by an inmate so hard that he bled profusely and had to get three stitches. Another inmate later kicked his wounds, and tore open the stitches.
Mr. Tan became emaciated and his teeth fell out as a result of long-term starvation. The guards gave him and other practitioners small amounts of food every day. They were also only allowed to purchase 200 yuan of daily necessities every month. Whatever they bought was usually snatched by the inmates.
The abuse of the other three men remains to be investigated.
More About the Prison
The Qianjin Prison in Beijing, also known as the Chadian Prison, is located in the Qinghe Farm in Ninghe District, Tianjin. It’s under the administration of the Qinghe Branch of the Beijing Prison Administration Bureau. Since 2000, a large number of male Falun Gong practitioners have been detained there and most of them were sentenced to lengthy prison terms from five years to eleven years. The prison guards instigate the inmates to torture practitioners so the inmates’ prison terms will be reduced.
Newly admitted practitioners are often kept in dark rooms and forced to read and watch materials that slander Falun Gong. Those that refuse to renounce their faith are subjected to various forms of torture, including beating, stabbing all over the body with ballpoint pen refills (a practitioner named Shang Jun suffered a stroke and became paralyzed on one side of the body after this torture), electric shocks, sleep deprivation, starvation, pepper spray, handcuffed to a metal chair, long-term sitting on a small plastic stool, spitting on practitioners’ faces or into their food, and denied restroom use, taking showers, or washing their clothes.
Division 1 and Division 3 are mainly designated to detain Falun Gong practitioners. The former is where practitioners who refuse to renounce Falun Gong are held. A guard named Gao Chuang threatened to harvest the practitioners’ internal organs and announce to the outside world that they died from practicing Falun Gong.
After practitioners are forced to renounce Falun Gong against their will, they are transferred to Division 3. Practitioners who are steadfast in their faith are also moved to Division 3 three months prior to their term expiration to undergo “pre-release education.”
