Due to his physical disability, the labor camp denied his admission, as he was unable to work there. Dealt a hard blow by the persecution, Mr. Yuan became incapacitated upon returning home and relied on his wife for care.

Several officers broke into Mr. Yuan’s home again in August 2010. They confiscated his Falun Gong books, portrait of Falun Gong’s founder, Falun Gong exercises music tapes, a tape player, a VCD player and other personal items. The police also attempted to arrest his wife, Ms. Yan Shulan, but she wasn’t home. To avoid the persecution, Ms. Yan was forced to live away from home. Mr. Yuan struggled to care for himself, yet still had to face frequent harassment by the police. His condition deteriorated over time and he died on March 11, 2012.
