(Minghui.org) A Maoming City, Guangdong Province, resident, was subjected to brutal torture while serving an 8.5-year term for his faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Li Yuandong, a former employee of the Guangdong Port Supervision Bureau, was arrested in Guangzhou (the capital city of Guangdong Province) in July 2019. The Haizhu District Court in Guangzhou sentenced him to prison in August 2021.
After Mr. Li was admitted to the Beijiang Prison in March 2022, he was tortured by guard Huo Linyin for not renouncing his faith. From April to June 2022, because he refused to attend brainwashing sessions, the guards chained his handcuff and shackle together (see the following illustration of the torture). He was unable to stand straight or take showers. He also had to walk downstairs from the fourth floor to the first floor for three meals every day. An inmate was arranged to monitor him around the clock.

Both the Beijiang Prison and Sihui Prison are two major men’s prisons in Guangdong Province to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Upon the practitioners’ admission, the guards first ordered them to write statements to renounce Falun Gong and then forced them to attend classes to study Buddhism. Those who resisted the brainwashing would be subjected to various torture methods, including sleep deprivation, beating, denied restroom use, and drug administration.
A guard at Beijiang Prison once said, “There has been no one (Falun Gong practitioners) who left the prison without being transformed”
