(Minghui.org) A Linghai City, Liaoning Province, resident was sentenced to two years around April 2024 for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.

Ms. Yang Xueping credits Falun Gong for resolving her arthritis, migraines and vertigo. She was arrested on December 5, 2023 and her home was raided. She was transferred from the Jinzhou City Detention Center to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison after her wrongful conviction.

Ms. Yang is not the first person in Linghai and its neighboring cities that has been sentenced by the same Linghai City Court for practicing Falun Gong. Minghui.org reported in March 2024 that 48 locals were sentenced to prison between 2022-2023. Two follow-up reports in May 2024 confirmed the conviction of four other practitioners in early 2024.
