(Minghui.org) The Linghai City Court in Liaoning Province sentenced three Falun Gong practitioners on January 26, 2024 for exercising their constitutional right to freedom of belief.
Mr. Cheng Haijun, 51, was sentenced to one year and eight months. His wife Ms. Zhu Chengzhi was given one year and four months. Mr. Xiao Zhongjiang was given six months.
All three practitioners are residents of Beizhen City, which like Linghai City is under the administration of Jinzhou City. They were arrested by officers from the Datun Township Police Station on September 10, 2023 for distributing Falun Gong materials.
Mr. Cheng went to Beijing twice in 2000 to appeal for Falun Gong. He was extorted 3,000 yuan after his first arrest in April. He was arrested again in December 2000 and given one and a half years of forced labor.
The Linghai City Court has been designated to handle Falun Gong cases in Jinzhou City and its subordinate cities and counties. Prior to sentencing Mr. Cheng, Ms. Zhu, and Mr. Xiao, the same court sentenced at least 45 other practitioners in the greater Jinzhou region in 2022-2023 alone, including 35 in Jinzhou City, 6 in Linghai City, 3 in Chaoyang City, 2 in Heishan County, and 1 in Yi County. Two family members who do not practice Falun Gong were also sentenced.
Jinzhou City (35, including 2 who do not practice Falun Gong)
Ms. Xu Qingfang, a 75-year-old music teacher, was sentenced to five years following a court hearing on March 4, 2022. Her daughter, Ms. Meng Tao, and nephew, Mr. Xu Chi, were also tried at the same time. They were each sentenced to six months for accompanying Ms. Xu to distribute Falun Gong materials in mid-December 2021. They do not practice Falun Gong themselves.
Ms. Wang Wei was sentenced to one year and three months in March 2022 following her arrest in early October 2021.
Ms. Guo Shufen was sentenced to two years and three months in July 2022 following her arrest on December 9, 2021.
Mr. Jia Jingwen was sentenced to seven years in July 2022 following his arrest on December 19, 2021.
Seven practitioners were sentenced together in August 2022 after being arrested on November 27, 2021. Ms. Zhang Yingling, 61, and Ms. Jin Xiaomei, 52, were each given 3 years. Ms. Kang Guiyun, 70, was given 2.5 years. Ms. Liu Yurong, 60, Ms. Li Shufang, 80, and Mr. Chen Wenxue, 77, were each given one year. Ms. Liu Baolian, 81, was sentenced to one year with two years probation.
Ms. Wang Shujuan was sentenced to five years in 2022 following her arrest on March 8 that year.
Ms. Yang Fengying was sentenced to 2.5 years in 2022 following her arrest on January 9 that year.
Ms. Song (first name unknown) was sentenced to an unknown term in 2022 following her arrest in early November 2021. She was released from the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison in 2023.
Ms. Xue Guilan, 78, was sentenced to one year with two years probation in 2022 following her arrest on August 15, 2021.
Ms. Fan Lingxiu was sentenced to two years in January 2023 following her arrest on September 20, 2022.
Ms. Wei Xiuying was sentenced to five years on February 24, 2023 following her arrest on April 25, 2021.
Ms. Jiang Yongjin was sentenced to 1.5 years in late April 2023 following her arrest on September 21, 2022.
Ms. Song Wenli was sentenced to two years in late April 2023 following her arrest on September 21, 2022.
Ms. Qin Jielan was sentenced to two years and ten months in early May 2023 following her arrest in 2022.
Ms. Wang Lin was sentenced to four years on June 25, 2023 following her arrest on March 22, 2023.
Ms. Xie Chengyu (or Ms. Xie Yucheng) was sentenced to two years and three months around September 2023 following her arrest on September 21, 2022.
Ms. Li Yanling was sentenced to eight months around September 2023 following her arrest on September 21, 2022.
Ms. Li Jinqiu was sentenced to four years on November 13, 2023 following her arrest on July 31 that year.
Four practitioners were sentenced together on December 22, 2023, including Ms. Yu Jing (4 years), Mr. Wang Jingzhong (4 years), Ms. Wang Yinghua (3.5 years), and Ms. Dai Xiuhua (1 year). They were all arrested in mid-March 2023.
Five practitioners were sentenced together in 2023, including Ms. Zhou Li (2 years), Mr. Ma Xu (1 year and four months), Ms. He Xiaodan, Ms. Wang Ying, and Ms. Gong Lina (the latter three each given one year and two months). They were all arrested on May 12, 2022.
Linghai City (6)
Ms. Yan Lijun was sentenced to four years and sent to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison on July 15, 2022.
Mr. Miao Jianguo was sentenced to 1.5 years in September 2022 following his arrest on February 21, 2022.
Ms. Liu Lijuan was sentenced to one year and three months in 2022 following her arrest in mid-December 2021.
Mr. Wang Zhongguo was sentenced to two years in 2022 following his arrest on January 1, 2022.
Ms. Wei Shouzhe was sentenced to seven months in 2022 following her arrest on August 21, 2022.
Ms. Ma Zhiru was sentenced to 3.5 years September 2023 following her arrest on February 15, 2023.
Chaoyang City (3 Practitioners)
On August 1, 2023, Ms. Zhang Xiuying was sentenced to 3.5 years, Ms. Zhang Yufeng three years, and Ms. Wang Enying one year following their arrests in March 2023.
Heishan County (2 Practitioners)
Ms. Wang Ruifeng was sentenced to 1.5 years in 2022 following her arrest on May 12, 2021.
Ms. Qi Sumei was sentenced to 2.5 years in late April 2023. She was arrested on March 1, 2023 and later released on bail. She was taken back into custody on August 16, 2023 after her sentencing.
Yi County (1 Practitioner)
Ms. Gao Guixiu was sentenced to one year and four months in 2022. She finished serving her term on May 13, 2023.
