(Minghui.org) A Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, resident was detained for 15 days in June 2024 for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Xiong Xiaofeng, 56, was arrested at home around 9 a.m. on June 12, 2024, by officers of the Nanchang County Domestic Security Division and the Xiaolan Police Station. A copy of Zhuan Falun, the main text of Falun Gong, was confiscated from her home.
After taking Ms. Xiong to the Domestic Security Division, the police sat her in a metal chair in the interrogation room with her feet restrained. Fan Chao, an officer around 30 years old, with a Falun Gong booklet in hand, said that someone reported seeing a woman distributing the booklets somewhere and that the police confirmed it was Ms. Xiong through the massive surveillance system. Fan attempted to threaten her to admit that she had distributed thousands of copies of the booklets. But when he tried to play the footage of Ms. Xiong distributing the materials, there was nothing shown due to technical issues.

Ms. Xiong remained silent throughout the interrogation. She also refused to sign the interrogation record. In the end, Fan wrote that she distributed 30 booklets and gave her a 15-day detention.
Most officers who arrested Ms. Xiong were in their 20s and 30s. She took the opportunity to clarify the facts to them and urged them not to blindly follow the communist regime in persecuting Falun Gong. Some officers appeared to be very receptive and began reading the Falun Gong materials she gave them.
Ms. Xiong was taken to the hospital for a physical examination around 11 a.m. and admitted to the Nanchang County Lockup around 3 p.m.
In the lockup, Ms. Xiong continued to clarify the facts about Falun Gong to the inmates and guards. She held a hunger strike for four days to protest the persecution.
When releasing her on June 27, 2024, the police demanded that she practice Falun Gong at home and not go out to promote it. She said Falun Gong is beneficial and she felt compelled to share the information with the public.
