(Minghui.org) It was recently learned that a 55-year-old resident of Zibo City, Shandong Province, was taken to prison to serve a 1.5-year term for her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.

Ms. Hu Yan’s ordeal stemmed from her initial arrest on September 22, 2022. Five officers from the local Domestic Security Division broke into her home that day and confiscated her Falun Gong books, computer, printer, and other personal valuables. They released her on bail the next day and ordered her to report to them once every month at set times.

Ms. Hu went to a residential complex to distribute Falun Gong materials in July 2023 and was reported to the police. They arrested her on July 20 and raided her home. After extorting 8,000 yuan from Ms. Hu, they released her, only to arrest her again on August 21, 2023.

It was recently confirmed that Ms. Hu is now serving time at the Shandong Province Women’s Prison located in the capital city of Jinan. But the details of her indictment, trial, and sentencing are unclear. Prior to her latest sentencing, Ms. Hu was detained three times for a total of nearly six years. She was also fined 10,000 yuan following one arrest.
