(Minghui.org) Mr. Pang Xun, a former host for the Sichuan Province People’s Radio Station, was tortured to death on December 2, 2022, only six months after he was admitted to Jiazhou Prison, Sichuan Province to serve a five-year term for his faith in Falun Gong. He was 30.
In the photos taken after Mr. Pang’s death, his body is seen covered with bruises, as well as marks from electric shocks and being tied up tightly with ropes. There was blood on his mouth. He had also become incontinent due to the torture.

Below is information provided by another Falun Gong practitioner detained in Jiazhou Prison, regarding the torture that Mr. Pang suffered there.

I burst into tears when I learned of Mr. Pang’s death. Everything about him is still so vivid in my mind.
Mr. Pang was very kind and strong. Even the inmates who tortured him to death couldn’t stop commenting on what a pleasant person he was.
On June 14, 2022, Mr. Pang was transferred from the Chengdu City Detention Center to Jiazhou Prison. As soon as he entered the prison, he shouted, “Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” The guards were infuriated. They dragged him into an office and beat him.
All newly admitted practitioners were held in the Fourth Ward. On the second day after Mr. Pang was taken here, the guards forced him and several other steadfast practitioners to finish eating meals within seconds, a torment often used in the prison. The guards also covered Mr. Pang’s head with a helmet, tied him up, and ordered the inmates to beat him.
(The Fourth Ward was designated to detain Uyghurs from Xinjiang. Each of the over 20 prisons in Sichuan Province had a ward to detain Uyghurs, with about 200 to 300 people for each ward. But all of them were moved away about three years ago and I don’t know where they were taken to.)
For the next ten days, Mr. Pang was subjected to more rounds of torture, including being handcuffed and shackled, shocked with electric batons, sprayed with spicy water, force-fed, and forced to stand under the scorching sun for long hours. The scars from electric shocks on his head were still visible months later. Mr. Pang started a hunger strike in protest.
Upon seeing that torture couldn’t shake Mr. Pang’s will, the guards transferred him to the third floor, to be detained with two other Falun Gong practitioners, Mr. Luo Qingsheng and Mr. Wang Guohua.
Starting on November 21, 2022, the guards and inmates savagely tortured Mr. Pang for eleven days, eventually killing him.
According to an inmate, the warden specially came to the Fourth Ward on the afternoon of November 22. He said that the inmates were being too nice to Falun Gong practitioners and that the prison was deciding how to punish them. On November 23, Yang Xilin, the director of the prison 610 Office, came to the Fourth Ward. He gathered all the inmates and ordered them to verbally abuse Falun Gong and its founder.
I heard from an inmate surnamed Yang that during those few days, the guards sprayed spicy water into Mr. Pang’s nostrils, eyes and ears. He couldn’t open his eyes as a result. The guards also stripped the practitioners to a thin layer of clothing in the cold weather and then poured cold water onto them, including practitioner Mr. Xiao Dafu, who was in his 80s. Other torture methods included long hours of forced standing and squatting.
In protest of the torture, we often heard Mr. Pang shouting, “Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” At night, the guards restrained him in the metal interrogation chair and didn’t give him any blankets. No matter how cold he was, he never shouted at night when everyone else was sleeping. When he started the shouting in the morning, the inmates would come over immediately to beat and verbally abuse him.
During a roll call around 6:30 p.m. on November 28, several inmates dragged Mr. Pang out. He was still shouting “Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” but his voice was already very weak. His body was covered with bruises and injuries. By then, he had been on a hunger strike for six days. But his shouting always inspired us. Even some inmates began to recite the phrases, “Falun Dafa is good; Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.”
Fearing that more and more inmates were becoming sympathetic towards Mr. Pang, the guards shocked him with three electric batons at the same time on the evening of November 28, according to inmate Chen who was assigned to monitor him. They didn’t stop until Mr. Pang was on the verge of death. Despite the temperature drop, the guards still left him in the metal interrogation chair in thin clothes, without giving him a blanket.
At around 2 a.m. on December 2, Mr. Pang suddenly shouted in the middle of the night. Although he was wearing a helmet, I still heard him very clearly. After he shouted more than ten times, there was complete silence.
Mr. Pang was dead. To cover up the crime, the guards ordered the inmates to call an ambulance, pretending they were still trying to resuscitate him.
At noon on December 3, the guard who refused to give Mr. Pang a blanket gathered all the inmates, threatening them not to reveal information about his death to the outside world. From that time to March 2023, the inmates who tortured Mr. Pang wrote many documents, trying to cover up the crime for the prison.
The guards who were responsible for Mr. Pang’s death included Yang Xilin (杨希林), a director surnamed He (贺) and the warden whose name is unknown.
The inmates who tortured him were: Wei Xin (魏欣), Chen Ze (the second character of his first name is unknown) (陈泽？), Chen Yuzhong (陈羽忠), Huang Dezhi (黄德智), Yang Ping (杨平), Hou Xueyang (侯学阳), Cai Ping (蔡平), Yang Cheng (杨诚), and Li Jiayi (李嘉义).
