Insights After a Coordinator Is Sent to Prison

(Minghui.org) We were shocked to hear that Yang, a main coordinator in our area, was arrested and given a heavy prison sentence for practicing Falun Dafa.

For a long time now, the environment for practicing Falun Dafa and saving lives in our area has been challenging. The local Public Security Bureau repeatedly harassed and arrested Dafa practitioners on a large scale. I feel this is a reflection of problems we have in our xinxing and cultivation.

Someone told me that almost every practitioner who went to Yang’s house brought her gifts, which varied in size and value, some even cost several hundred yuan. This gift-giving continued for a long time.

I was shocked to hear this, and thought, “Why is it that things that are so obviously not in line with the Fa are being done by most of our local practitioners, and no one seems to realize that this is wrong and needs to end? Isn’t this caused by our human notions and attachments?”

Master taught us,

“Gradually, this person would accept small gifts. Later, he would also accept big gifts. In the end, he would even be offended when he was not given enough.” (Lecture Three, Zhuan Falun)

This gift-giving invariably fuels the practitioner’s attachments to fame and fortune. Is this not leading fellow practitioners down a dangerous path?

Because Yang is now imprisoned, she needs to look inward to find her attachments, the inadequacies in her cultivation and rectify them based on the Falun Dafa teachings.

Those practitioners who occasionally gave her gifts also need to look inward. What kind of mindset did they have when they brought her gifts? Did they need help from Yang? Did they want something in return? What kind of attachment was behind the gift-giving?

Someone said that Yang is very good at writing and is a competent coordinator. But, we must take our cultivation seriously. Did we give her gifts because we admired her abilities or for other selfish motives? When we used her attachments to fame and profit to ask her for help, did we think about what this would do to her, and the consequences?

We must reflect and look inward, remove our attachments and shortcomings, and elevate based on the Fa. We have a mission to accomplish, a vow to fulfill; we need to start by rectifying ourselves if we are to assist Master in Fa-rectification.
