(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 9 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 22 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Beijing] Ms. Zhu Ying Arrested and Detained
Ms. Zhu Ying from Beijing was arrested by officers from Xinglong County in Hebei Province on the evening of June 4, 2024. She has been placed under official arrest and is currently detained in the Chengde Detention Center.
2. [Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Tu Baogui Arrested and Detained
Ms. Tu Baogui was arrested by Hanshan Police Station officers in the Nanzheng District on July 4, 2024, and has been detained.
3. [Tianjin] Mr. Kong Fanwei Arrested and Detained
Mr. Kong Fanwei, 60, lives in Wuliangmiao Village, Chengguan Town, Wuqing District. He was arrested by officers from the Chengguan Town Police Station on July 3, 2024. His home was ransacked. The police confiscated two computers, three printers, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, Falun Gong books, and cash. Mr. Kong was taken to the Yangchun Detention Center that evening.
4. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Lyu Chunyu Persecuted
The daughter of Ms. Lyu Chunyu received a call from the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison on the afternoon of July 5, 2024, informing that they would have a decision about her medical parole application in a few days. But her daughter first had to pay the 5,000-yuan bond.
Ms. Lyu, 72, is serving a 3.5-year term. She developed a serious medical condition in prison, but the authorities repeatedly delayed her request to be released for medical treatment. Meanwhile, the authorities also suspended her pension and demanded that she pay back the pension she had received during her detention.
5. [Jiangyou City, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners Arrested
Ms. Xu Zhongrong, Ms. Fu Faqiong, and Wang Linying, were arrested at 10 a.m. on June 19, 2024, for talking to people about Falun Gong in a farmers’ market. Three plainclothes officers searched them and confiscated over 300 yuan from Ms. Xu and 130 yuan from Ms. Fu, several USB drives, and several recent articles written by Falun Gong’s founder. The police ransacked the practitioners’ homes and confiscated their Falun Gong books and media players. All three were released that afternoon.
6. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Detained
Twelve practitioners were arrested on July 6, 2024. Eight of them have been released. Ms. Wang Ruiling, Ms. Tian Shuxue, and Mr. Zhang Yuming, are still detained.
7. [Tai’an City, Shandong Province] Ms. Ma Junting Harassed
Ms. Ma Junting, 85, was harassed at home in Tianzhuofeng Road on June 25, 2024. A photo of Falun Gong’s founder was confiscated.
8. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Ma Fang’s Family Harassed
The mother of Ms. Ma Fang was harassed at home by five officers from the Dongjuzi Police Station in the Changyi District on the morning of July 3, 2024. The police asked where Ms. Ma was and ordered her mother to sign some documents, which she refused to do.
The younger sister of Ms. Ma received a call from the Dongjuzi Police Station on the afternoon of July 4, 2024, informing her that a subpoena was delivered to the home of Ms. Ma’s mother. The police also ordered Ms. Ma to report to the Dongjuzi Police Station on July 6, 2024, when her one-year bail expired. The police threatened to confiscate the 20,000-yuan bond if she didn’t show up.
9. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Chen Lin Released After Serving Five Years in Prison
Mr. Chen Lin was arrested by Lunan District Police Department officers on July 3, 2019, and sentenced to five years in prison by the Lubei District Court on November 11, 2020. He was released on July 2, 2024.
10. [Haicheng City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Bai Xuesong Scheduled to Be Released
Mr. Bai Xuesong was arrested by Fanrong Police Station officers on January 20, 2021, and was sentenced to three and a half years in prison by the Lishan Court on September 29, 2023. He was taken to the Nanguanling Prison on April 10, 2023, and transferred to the Dalian City Prison on April 25, 2023. He has been detained there ever since. He is scheduled to be released on July 19, 2024.
When Mr. Bai was in the fifth ward of Dalian City Prison, he was placed under strict management for not renouncing Falun Gong. Three inmates were assigned to watch him all the time.
The inmates there were forced to do unpaid labor from Monday to Saturday, 10 hours per day. Those who cannot finish their quote have to sit in a small bench for long hours. They are only given cabbage and potato soup without any oil and steamed buns to eat.
