(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 23 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
1. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province] Mr. Lin Hongjie and Ms. Fang Ruiqin Arrested and Detained
2. [Beijing] Yu Xuelan Faces Trial
3. [Qishan County, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Liu Huixia Arrested
4. [Longhua County, Hebei Province] Ms. Wu Shufen Arrested
5. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Sun Xiucheng Arrested and Detained
6. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Zhang Xiaohua Detained
7. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Li Arrested
8. [Huizhou City, Guangdong Province] Li Wei Arrested and Detained
9. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Five Practitioners Persecuted
10. [Huangshi City, Hubei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested
11. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Ma Xueyan Arrested and Detained
1. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province] Mr. Lin Hongjie and Ms. Fang Ruiqin Arrested and Detained
Seven practitioners including Mr. Lin Hongjie and Ms. Fang Ruiqin received the verdicts from the Laizhou City Court on May 20, 2024. Afterwards, Mr. Lin was arrested at home and taken to the Yantai City Detention House on May 22, 2024. Ms. Fang Ruiqin was also arrested and taken to the Yantai City Detention House.
2. [Beijing] Yu Xuelan Faces Trial
Yu Xuelan from Fengtai District will be tried in the Fengtai District Court at 9 a.m. on June 3, 2024.
3. [Qishan County, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Liu Huixia Arrested
Ms. Liu Huixia was arrested at home in Henglihuayuan, Qishan County, on the morning of May 22, 2024. It was learned that the police kept monitoring Ms. Liu’s home in an attempt to arrest more practitioners.
4. [Longhua County, Hebei Province] Ms. Wu Shufen Arrested
Ms. Wu Shufen was reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong and distributing truth clarifying materials on the morning of May 22, 2024. She was taken to the police station, where she was body searched and eight booklets were found (which had information about Falun Gong). Her home was ransacked. Several old Minghui Weekly magazines and a calendar were confiscated.
5. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Sun Xiucheng Arrested and Detained
Mr. Sun Xiucheng, 72, was arrested by officers from the Shihuiyao Police Station on the evening of May 9 2024. His home was ransacked. Mr. Sun is currently detained in the Huangwu Police Station.
6. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Zhang Xiaohua Detained
Zhang Xiaohua, a teacher at Hubei University, was arrested in December 2023 or January 2024 for talking to a police officer about Falun Gong. Zhang has been detained in Ankang Hospital since then.
7. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Li Arrested
Ms. Wang Li was arrested by officers from the Zhifu District Police Department around May 9, 2024.
8. [Huizhou City, Guangdong Province] Li Wei Arrested and Detained
Li Wei was arrested on April 11, 2024 during a group arrest in Huizhou City. Li was detained but was released on May 18, 2024.
9. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Five Practitioners Persecuted
Mr. Wu Qingyuan and his wife Ms. Li Ying were arrested by officers from the Jingyue Street Police Station on February 29, 2024. Their home was ransacked. Ms. Li Ying was released due to her health. Her husband Mr. Wu is still held in a detention center.
Mr. Zhang Guoen and his wife Ms. Sun Yanbo had their home raided around February 29, 2024. Their home has been locked since then, and their current situation is unknown.
Ding Bo was arrested at the beginning of May 2024. Ding’s current situation is unknown.
10. [Huangshi City, Hubei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested
Three practitioners, Ms. Cao Chunmei, Ms. Xiong and Ms. Li were arrested at Ms. Xiong’s home in Huangshigang District at 2 p.m. on May 9, 2024. The police broke the door and entered the house. Their Falun Gong books were confiscated. Ms. Xiong and Ms. Li were released later that day because of their old age. Ms. Cao Chunmei, 69, was handcuffed and taken to the Lieshan Detention House. She was detained for 12 days and was released on May 21, 2024.
11. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Ma Xueyan Arrested and Detained
Ms. Ma Xueyan from Laiwu District was arrested at home at 9 a.m., May 23, 2024, and was taken to the Jinan City Detention House that night. She was placed under 12-day detention.
