(Minghui.org) I work as a chef in a beauty salon. The customers are businesswomen, company executives or government officials. I practiced Falun Dafa for 25 years and take every opportunity to help people I meet at work to know about this wonderful spiritual practice.
Before I started working here, I knew little about cooking. But I sincerely wanted people to feel satisfied with their meals. I did every step very carefully, from washing the vegetables to mastering the perfect cooking time. I learned to adjust the flavor based on the needs of different customers. As I watch them enjoy the food, I also feel very happy.
One day, as soon as I arrived at work, the owner of the salon said to me, “The owner of a restaurant had a meal here yesterday and praised your fantastic cooking skills! She liked the braised pork belly you cooked very much and asked me what your secret recipe was.” Another time, the director of a bureau took a dish I fixed back to her office and had her colleagues taste it. They all agreed that it was delicious and better than most restaurants.
The owner of the salon once told me, “If you leave us, I won’t be able to find another chef as good as you.” In fact, my salary is in the lower range of similar jobs, but I didn’t care about that. I just want to do my job well. I feel that it’s important for me to cook every dish well. Perhaps it’s because the food carries this positive energy that it tastes good.
Sometimes customers stay for lunch without first making an appointment. I usually wait until everyone finishes their meals before eating my lunch, in case there’s not enough food left over. When it comes to leftovers, I don’t like to waste them and will save them for other meals.
When I’m not cooking, I help the cosmetologists by washing the towels and cleaning the rooms. One day I found a diamond ring. The ring belonged to the salon owner and she had been looking for it for a week. The owner was very excited to get the ring back and kept thanking me.
It has been six years since I started to work at the salon. From my words and actions, everyone understands the facts of Falun Dafa and they know that practitioners are good people. They have all quit the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliated organizations. They never stop me when I talk to customers about Falun Dafa, but only kindly remind me to pay attention to my safety. Sometimes they encourage me to never give up and to continue cultivating myself even better!
