(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 16 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Niu Yan Sentenced
Ms. Niu Yan was sentenced to three-and-a-half-years in prison by the Xihu District Court. She appealed.
2. [Chongqing] Ms. Gu Quanrong Faces Trial
Ms. Gu Quanrong of Jiangjin District was arrested in 2023 for distributing Falun Gong flyers. She was sent to the Jiangjin Detention Center. The Second Court of Jiulongpo Court scheduled her trial for May 13, 2024 at 10:30 a.m.
3. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Jian Yufeng Faces Indictment
Ms. Jian Yufeng’s daughter received a call from officer Li from the Maluwan Police Station on May 6, 2024. She was told that Ms. Jian’s case was submitted to the procuratorate.
Ms. Jian was arrested in front of her condo building by plainclothes officers from the Maluwan Police Station around 6:00 p.m. on March 15, 2023. They ransacked her home and confiscated her personal items. She was taken to the police station. She was released the next afternoon after the detention center did not admit her due to her poor physical exam results.
4. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Li Zhenna and Two Practitioners Arrested
Li Zhenna of Zhifu District, her daughter, and another practitioner were arrested at home on May 9, 2024.
5. [Anlu City, Hubei Province] Ms. Liu Chunyan Held in Brainwashing Center
Ms. Liu Chunyan, in her 60s, was arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Division on May 6, 2024. She was held in the Changsong Brainwashing Center in Bofan Town.
6. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Wei Detained
Ms. Wang Wei of Pingshan District was arrested by Dongming Police Station officers on May 8, 2024. She was detained for five days.
7. [Zhenzhou City, Henan Province] Ms. Gu Zhenyuan Arrested
Ms. Gu Zhenyuan was arrested on the evening of May 9, 2024, when she was distributing Falun Gong flyers.
8. [Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Tu Baogui Arrested
Ms. Tu Baogui distributed Falun Gong flyers in Nanzheng District’s Hanshan Village on May 6, 2024. The surveillance system recorded her. She was arrested by Hanshan Police Station officers on May 8. She was taken to the police station, and interrogated. She was released on the afternoon of May 9.
Officers from the Hanshan Police Station and the Beiguan Police Station ransacked her home, seized her computer and Falun Gong books.
9. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Zhong Xiangwei Detained
Ms. Zhong Xiangwei talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong at a bus station and was arrested after 3:00 p.m. on April 11, 2024, after someone reported her. She was taken to the Yong’an Police Station. Balihu Police Station officers searched her and seized 300 yuan which had Falun Gong messages printed on them. Officers ransacked her home at 9:00 p.m., confiscated her Falun Gong books, a picture of the founder of Falun Gong, media players, copies of Minghui Weekly, and other items. She was detained for 14 days and was released.
10. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Shuqin Detained
Ms. Wang Shuqin went to Changchun City High-Tec Development Zone on an errand in mid-April 2024. She was arrested by police officers who were staked out there. They ransacked her home and seized her Falun Gong books. She was detained for seven days and was released.
11. [Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xu Chunyan Harassed
The Hongtoushan Residential Community director led officers from the Hongtoushan Police Station and the Qingyuan County Domestic Security Division to Ms. Xu Chunyan’s home around 6:00 p.m. on April 21, 2024. No one was home. They broke down her door, entered her home, took away a board which had the words “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” and a picture of the founder of Falun Gong. They also tore down the couplets on her door.
Ms. Xu and her younger sister went to the Domestic Security Division office on the morning of May 10, 2024. They asked officers to return the confiscated items. Officer Wang arrested Ms. Xu, but let her sister leave. He drove her to Hongtoushan. Officers from the Hongtoushan Police Station and a clerk from her community ransacked her home. She was taken back to Qingyuan and was released in the afternoon.
12. [Honghu City, Hubei Province] Ms. Wu Qinyu Arrested
Ms. Wu Qinyu, 73, distributed Falun Gong flyers on April 28, 2024. Someone reported her. She was identified through the surveillance system. More than ten officers from the Honghu City Domestic Security Division and her local police station broke into her home and arrested her on the morning of April 29. They ransacked her place and videotaped the whole process. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, computers, portable drives, Falun Gong types, printouts, and other items. She was released that night.
13. [Beijing] Mr. Wang Youbin Under 24 Hour Surveillance
Mr. Wang Youbin’s home has been under 24-hour surveillance since May 10, 2024. The Xiguan Residential District is following the 610 Office orders and sends two people to monitor his home every day.
14. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Mr. Liu Hongyao Arrested
Mr. Liu Hongyao, in his 80s, lives in Jianbala Village, Taohutai Township. He was arrested at home by officers from the Taohutai Township Police Station on May 5, 2024. The officers ransacked his place and seized his personal items. It was said that his family was extorted money to get him released that day.
