(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 59 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

13. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhou Lizhi Admitted to Shandong Province Women’s Prison
1. [Shanghai] Huang Haitao Arrested and Detained
Huang Haitao was arrested in the Pudong District on April 2, 2024 and was placed under official arrest on April 26, 2024. Huang is being held in the Pudong District Detention Center.
2. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Ms. He Guihong Arrested
It was reported that about 40 practitioners including Ms. He Guihong were arrested in Xianning City around April 25, 2024. Ms. He’s daughter, a non-practitioner, was also arrested.
3. [Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province] Six Practitioners Arrested
Ms. Xu Xiulan, Ms. Xiong Chunying, Mr. Lu and his wife, and Mr. Xing and his wife were arrested before April 25, 2024, and their homes were ransacked. Their personal belongings including Falun Gong books, computers, and cell phones were confiscated.
4. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Dong Yushui Arrested
Mr. Dong Yushui from Ganjinzi District was arrested by officers from the Xinhua Road Police Station on the morning of May 4, 2024. Mr. Dong is currently being held in the police station.
5. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Zhang Ruifeng Arrested and Detained
Zhang Ruifeng was arrested by officers from the Ziyu Street Police Station on April 29, 2024 and placed under 15-day detention. Zhang’s home was ransacked.
6. [Shanghai] Ms. Xu Nixia Arrested
Ms. Xu Nixia was temporarily staying in Ms. Gu Yueling’s house in Pudong District. When Ms. Gu Yueling returned from a market on April 29, 2024, a police officer showed up and grabbed the house key from her hand, and held her outside. The police went into the house and arrested Ms. Xu.
7. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Mu Hua Arrested and Detained
Ms. Mu Hua was arrested at her mother’s home in Nanhu New Village by officers from the Nanhu Police Station on April 30, 2024. The police ransacked the home and confiscated multiple Falun Gong books and a computer. Ms. Mu was sent to a detention house.
8. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Lan Wenbin Arrested
Mr. Lan Wenbin, 77, from Changfeng Township of Hanyang District, was arrested when he walked out of his home on the morning of April 16, 2024. The police searched his body and confiscated truth clarifying materials. They ransacked his home and confiscated the computer and printer. Mr. Lan was taken to have a physical exam. He was placed under residential surveillance after he was found to have a tumor.
9. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Han Wei and His Older Brother Arrested
Mr. Han Wei’s older brother was arrested by officers in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, on March 13, 2024. Mr. Han Wei was also arrested and taken to Nantong City on March 28, 2024. Mr. Han Wei and his brother were released on bail pending trial on April 30 and April 10, 2024 respectively.
10. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Xiuzhen Sent to the Shandong Province Women’s Prison
Ms. Li Xiuzhen, in her 70s, was taken to the Shandong Province Women’s Prison on April 9, 2024 after her appeal was rejected by the Weifang City Intermediate Court. She was arrested on November 21, 2023 and sentenced to three years by the Fangzi District Court in early January 2024.
11. [Fuzhou City, Fujian Province] Ms. Lai Dongping Imprisoned
Ms. Lai Dongping, 67, was sentenced to a four-year prison term in early 2024 for giving a 7-year-old boy an amulet with the words “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” She appealed to the Fuzhou City Intermediate Court, which ruled to uphold the original verdict. She was transferred to the Fujian Province Women’s Prison in March 2024.
12. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wang Guohui and His Wife Ms. Yu Chunli Jailed for Practicing Falun Gong
Mr. Wang Guohui and his wife Ms. Yu Chunli, in their 50s, were arrested on October 27, 2022. They appeared in the Jimo District Court on October 18, 2023. Ms. Yu was given four years and eight months. Mr. Wang was sentenced to four years and four months, and fined 20,000 yuan. They appealed to the Qingdao City Intermediate Court, but the judge ruled to uphold the original verdict.
Mr. Wang was transferred from the Chengyang District Detention Center to the Shandong Province Prison on March 20, 2024. Ms. Yu was taken from the Pudong Detention Center to the Shandong Province Women’s Prison on April 8, 2024.
13. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhou Lizhi Admitted to Shandong Province Women’s Prison
Ms. Zhou Lizhi, 59, was sentenced to three years by the Zichuan District Court on August 15, 2023. Her appeal was rejected by the Zibo City Intermediate Court. She was transferred to the Shandong Province Women’s Prison in early 2024.
