(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 9 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 17 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

8. [Beijing] Ms. Zhang Zhaoyu Placed under Residential Surveillance
9. [Baoji City, Shaanxi Province] Seven Practitioners Persecuted
1. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Ren Changbin Faces Trial
Mr. Ren Changbin was scheduled to be tried in the Xiangyang District Court at 10 a.m. on May 10, 2024.
2. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Ruifeng and Mr. Yan Guozhu Arrested
Ms. Zhang Ruifeng from Chaoyang District was arrested at home by officers from the Ziyou Road Police Station on April 29, 2024. The police ransacked her home and confiscated numerous Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, two computers, printer, cash, etc.
Mr. Yan Guozhu, in his 50s, was arrested by officers from the Furongqiao Police Station on April 19, 2024. He was placed under 15-day detention and sent to the Changchun City Detention House.
3. [Tianjin] Ms. Chen Hua Arrested
Ms. Chen Hua was arrested by officers in the Hongqiao District around April 22, 2024.
4. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Huajing Arrested and Detained
Ms. Wang Huajing was arrested by officers from the Jinhaitan Police Station in Gao District on April 19, 2024 and was held for ten days in a detention house.
5. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Ms. Hu Hongmei and Ms. Huang Wanlian Arrested and Detained
Ms. Hu Hongmei was reported to police for talking to a customer about Falun Gong in Ms. Huang Wanlian’s store. Ms. Hu and Ms. Huang were arrested on the afternoon of April 28, 2024. The CDs of lectures given by Falun Gong’s founder were confiscated. The two practitioners were held for five days in the Shuangheqiao Detention House and were released on May 3, 2024.
6. [Laishui County, Hebei Province] Mr. Xia Hongmin Arrested and Detained
Mr. Xia Hongmin was arrested at home on the morning of April 30, 2024. He is currently being held in the Laishui County Detention House.
7. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Yuxian Arrested and Detained
Ms. Zhang Yuxian was arrested on the evening of April 18, 2024. She was released on May 1, 2024.
8. [Beijing] Ms. Zhang Zhaoyu Placed under Residential Surveillance
Ms. Zhang was placed under residential surveillance. A police car was parked under the building where Ms. Zhang Zhaoyu lives on April 23-25, 2024.
9. [Baoji City, Shaanxi Province] Seven Practitioners Persecuted
Seven practitioners were arrested by police in the Weibin District and the Jintai District on April 11, 2024, including Ms. Li Cuifang, Ms. Chai Xiufang, Ms. Wang Guaiyan, Ms. Liu Lingzhi, Ms. Luo Cuilian, Ms. Xiao Bing, and Ms. Gou Yufang. The police ransacked Ms. Li Cuifang’s home and confiscated two printers, several Falun Gong books, media players, etc. The police spent several hours, from afternoon to midnight, in Ms. Chai Xiufang’s home.
Ms. Luo Cuilian was taken away by officers from the Chenchang District. The four practitioners, Ms. Gou Yufang, Ms. Liu Lingzhi, Ms. Chai Xiufang, and Ms. Xiao Bing, were detained and interrogated in the case handling base in Wangjiahe Village. Ms. Gou Yufang was tied to a metal chair and could not move for two days and nights, which caused both of her legs and feet to severely swell. The muscles near her tailbone also swelled and ulcerated. Ms. Gou held a hunger strike. She was placed under residential surveillance and released. Ms. Gou Yufang was released on bail pending trial.
