Peaceful Gatherings at Chinese Consulates Throughout Japan Commemorate Historic Appeal

(Minghui.org) Practitioners held events in front of Chinese consulates in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Sapporo on April 25, 2024 to commemorate the April 25 appeal and to call for an end to the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution of Falun Dafa (also called Falun Gong). 

Twenty-five years ago on April 25, 1999, approximately ten thousand Falun Dafa practitioners peacefully gathered at the Central Appeals Office in Beijing to ask that practitioners who were illegally arrested in Tianjin be released. They also asked that authorities allow them to exercise their right to practice their belief, as guaranteed by China’s Constitution. Through awareness-raising activities in Japan, practitioners hope to uphold the spirit of the peaceful appeal held a quarter century ago.

Falun Dafa practitioners from central Japan held a peaceful appeal in front of the Chinese consulate in Nagoya from 9 a.m. to 1p.m. They displayed banners with the words “Falun Dafa Is Good” and “Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance” written in English and Chinese. There were also banners with the words “SOS Stop the Persecution of Falun Dafa” and “Falun Dafa Is Practiced Around the World” in Japanese.

As April 25 was a work day, some practitioners made use of the time before they went to work in the morning to go to the Chinese consulate to peacefully appeal. Others went to the consulate to appeal after work. Some practitioners came from as far away as Nagano Prefecture, which is more than a hundred and seventy kilometers away. Every practitioner had the same wish: To end the CCP’s persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in China.

Ms. Elena Albuora from the Philippines said, “Live organ harvesting is terrifying.”

Mr. Xu, who took part in the peaceful appeal, said, “The persecution has already been going on for twenty-five years, which is a quarter of a century. Falun Dafa practitioners in China are still being detained and persecuted. Their organs are harvested while they are alive. Everyone should stand up to call for all good people to come together to stop the cruel persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners by the CCP.”

Mr. Wang Xiyang from Tokyo said that his mother and wife were plagued by illnesses that doctors could not cure. After they recovered by practicing Falun Dafa, he was inspired to take up the practice himself. He said, “Before I began practicing Falun Dafa, I easily lost my temper. At work, I had conflicts with others and my relationship with my family was also bad. However, after I began practicing, my health recovered and my character became better. My relationship with my family also improved.” 

He said, “I hope to end the persecution by the CCP because it has caused great disaster to my family. My mother was persecuted. I hope that more people in the world can wake up and quit the CCP.”

Ms. Cong from Fukuoka, said, “After I started practicing Falun Dafa in 2016 my life suddenly brightened. My character became better and I no longer easily get angry. On this day twenty-five years ago, the CCP made use of its usual means of confusing people with what is right and wrong to defame Falun Dafa practitioners’ peaceful appeal, and claimed that practitioners “besieged” Zhongnanhai [the central government compound where practitioners peacefully gathered]. With that, they started the brutal persecution that has lasted twenty-five years and counting. Today, we come to the Chinese consulate to tell people what is happening and to end this persecution.”
