(Minghui.org) I am 67 years old and started Falun Dafa cultivation in 2009. I would like to share some of my cultivation experiences with fellow practitioners. At the same time I would like to expose the atrocities and crimes committed by the members of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
Starting Cultivation: Blessings in Disguise
In 1971, when I was 15 years old, my older brother died in the line of duty. He was protecting state property during the construction of a reservoir project, and was posthumously recognized as a martyr. The government gave my family 150 yuan every month as pension, and some other benefits.
Two years later, when the reservoir was completed, these benefits were revoked on the grounds that my brother did not die in the place where his house registration was located. My family had not yet recovered from the pain of losing him. Losing the pension was a heavy blow for my family. At that time, I naively thought that “the great, glorious, and righteous Party, as well as the government that cares about the people’s suffering” would be able to solve this problem in a realistic way, so I went to seek justice for my brother. I gave up everything and embarked on the road of petitioning the government, with a strong belief and expecting justice.
At that time, I didn’t know how difficult my undertaking would be, and I didn’t know that it was a road of no return. During this period, Hu Yaobang, the head of the CCP at the time, gave instructions on this matter, but the relevant person in charge of the local government not only refused to solve the problem, but also used all kinds of despicable means to persecute my entire family, and arrested me many times claiming that I was mentally ill. They held me in a detention center, and inhumanly tortured me. They gave the local police department 100,000 yuan for imprisoning me in a labor camp for 15 months in April 2009.
During the past 30 years or so, I have been humiliated and oppressed, I had no dignity as a human being, and I suffered great physical and mental harm; I have become a “prisoner” who suffers from serious heart disease and headaches. I could not stand steadily, and I suffering from illness every day. I really learned about the shamelessness of the Party, and witnessed the government’s cruelty and reckless disregard for human life.
Although I didn’t know much about Falun Dafa at the time, the humiliation I had suffered over the years made me very sympathetic to oppressed people. So every time I saw these people being persecuted, I courageously stood up to defend their dignity and protected Dafa practitioners. For this reason, the captain of the labor camp asked me not to interfere in their business. But, I still stood firmly on the side of Dafa and spoke justly for Dafa and Dafa practitioners.
Because of the torture of illness and the tremendous mental pressure, I felt as if I was on the verge of dying. At that time, a Dafa practitioner told me the reason and truth about Dafa’s persecution and the miraculous effects of Dafa in dissipating illness and restoring health. She told me that Dafa teaches people to act based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, and that Master is saving people. When I heard the truth about Falun Dafa, I felt that this was what I wanted, and that the hardships I had endured for so many years were so that I could finally obtain this Fa. So I decided to practice Falun Dafa.
After I started practicing, fellow practitioners taught me to memorize Master’s teachings, including Hong Yin, Hong Yin II, and asked me to always recite “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” By the autumn of that year, I was able to climb up and down the stairs by myself, although I used to be too weak to walk steadily. The cool breeze did not hurt my head, and my body was no longer afraid of getting cold. Mainly, all my illnesses were removed by compassionate and great Master.
I am so lucky to become a practitioner of Falun Dafa, feeling free from illness and being able to become one of Master’s disciples. I cried for happiness and excitement. My feeling of gratitude cannot be described in words. In the winter after I got out of prison, I rode my bicycle in the icy wind without feeling cold. The changes in my body once again proved the greatness of Master’s compassion, the power of Falun Dafa, and effectively exposed the lies of the CCP’s slander of Dafa.
Countering the Persecution and Saving People in Prison
When I passed out Shen Yun DVDs, I was illegally arrested, and beaten in the detention center in 2014. I developed high blood pressure. The court held two illegal sessions, and I refused to be found guilty. The court illegally sentenced me to four years in prison for the so-called crime of “using a cult organization to undermine the implementation of the law.”
1. Countering Persecution in Correctional Prison
In prison, I thought that I would use my words and deeds to prove the sacredness and greatness of Dafa, and I would stand up against the persecution. I would tell the truth and save the people here. I was forced to stand straight up for refusing to be “transformed” from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the first day. The next day, from 6 a.m. to 12 a.m.
Two weeks later, I was tortured for refusing to write the “transformational” materials. When I couldn’t hold on any longer, three consecutive waves of warm energy entered my body, and my body instantly relaxed. I knew that it was Master’s blessing.
On the sixth day, a prisoner, who was watching me, refused to give me water, so I went on a hunger strike. In the end, the captain of the prison told this prisoner to make sure I have water, could use the bathroom, and not to hit me. But this prisoner still beat me and gave me only a small bottle of water. On the 8th day, another prisoner suddenly fainted and fell to the ground, not able to breathe. On the 10th day this prisoner instructed four other prisoners to pour more than 10 basins of cold water on me. People with common sense know that this can kill a person in the heat of summer. But at the age of nearly 60, I didn’t have a cold or fever. I know that Master had borne it for me.
The symptoms of that prisoner’s breathing difficulty worsened, and her life was in danger. She had to rely on oxygen delivery every day. The captain said, “What’s wrong with this prisoner, she’s the iron woman here!” (She is 36 years old, and has always been strong). Someone replied that this prisoner was being punished for torturing me. Someone whispered to me, “You did a great job!” I knew that Master was encouraging me through her mouth. Under the protection of Master and with righteous thoughts I walked out of the correctional prison area, where I was imprisoned for 150 days.
2. Countering Persecution in Regular Prison District
I told the captain in the regular prison district that I would not listen to them. Two months later, the prison conducted a “transformation” test. I insisted on saying that Falun Dafa is good. I insisted on doing the Dafa exercises every day, and the head prisoner instructed a number of prisoners to beat me. The captain ordered another prisoner to beat me. The next day, I talked to the warden about it, and the reprimanded woman learned about it, so she continued to beat me. The warden stopped her. This prisoner’s evil deeds were condemned by the whole prison. The prisoners who had a good relationship with her no longer hung out with her. One day, her products at the workplace turned out to be scrap, and she almost collapsed. It was only then that this prisoner realized that she was receiving karmic retribution for persecuting Dafa practitioners. She ran to the workshop and publicly apologized to me in front of all the team members.
Later, she wrote on a document on how the captain instructed her to persecute me. When the whole prison held a meeting on May 1, she ran to the rostrum and handed this document to the warden, exposing the captain’s evil deeds. For this she was locked up for a month. When she came back, she said that the prisoners in the locking room were very good to her and praised her for her courage. This prisoner now always tried to help me. Of course I didn’t hold a grudge against anyone who persecuted me. I didn’t take anything from others; I just pitied them. I’m very happy about this prisoner’s awakening, which gave her the courage to expose evil, and be saved.
Then the head prisoner, who instructed the crowd to beat me, was also replaced. The new head prisoner was a drug offender. She interfered with my practice at night for three consecutive months. Everyone condemned her, and everyone refused to hang out with her. She couldn’t bear everyone’s snub. She cried and said to the head of the department in charge: “The whole cell is mean to me, and so nice to her (referring to me).”
Later, the section chief smiled and said to me, “The whole prison is nice to you, isn’t it?” I replied with a smile, “People see things. I behave according to the standard of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and always prioritize others. How can they not be nice to me?”
Due to the head prisoner’s interference, I couldn’t meditate or do the exercises. I went to the captain and said that my headache was worsening, and if I couldn’t practice well, I would be really sick. I asked to be transferred to another cell, but within a few days, the captain transferred the head prisoner to another cell. It was compassionate Master who created this environment for me. Master gives so much to his practitioners. I resumed my exercises and recovered physically.
Another prisoner was instructed by the evil police to be domineering, often beating people, and was especially rude to Dafa practitioners. One day, the captain suddenly arranged this prisoner to watch me. I realized that it was Master asking me to save her. So, I was kind to her, and told her the truth about Dafa. I told her, “Falun Dafa is persecuted, and you must not believe the slanderous words of the CCP members. Dafa teaches people to be good and asks them to follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Those who practice Dafa don’t have any pursuit. Their only goal is to return to their original selves.” I talked to her many times, and she finally understood the truth, and no longer beat anyone.
In prison, I often encountered all kinds of interference and persecution, but I never resented these people. I always treated them with kindness, and took advantage of all kinds of opportunities to help them understand the truth of Dafa, so that they could be saved by Master.
During the four years of unjust imprisonment, the people who beat me, persecuted me, and interfered with my practice were all subjected to retribution of varying degrees. The people in prison can see it. I told them, “It is a natural principle that good and evil receive their due. Persecuting a person for their righteous faith is even more sinful.” Before I was released, the captains were very kind to me.
In prison, many people learned the truth of Dafa through my words and deeds and were saved by Master. The miracles that happened to me and the retribution suffered by those who did evil also had a great deterrent effect on the evil police. Their evil deeds were much more restrained. Some prison guards who understand the truth have helped Dafa practitioners. I am really happy for these people. Although I endured a lot of suffering, I felt happy, because I didn’t suffer in vain. The suffering that Master has endured for me is many times more than what I have endured myself. These people were saved because of Master’s arrangement. Without the protection of Master, I would not have been able to get out of prison alive. Once again, I thank Master for saving me.
The Hope of the World
After returning home, I seized all my time to study Zhuan Falun, the main book of Falun Dafa, and Master’s other writings. As I'd gained the Fa late and lost a lot of precious time in detention. I had to make up for the lost time and keep up with Master’s Fa-rectification process. So, I actively participate in various Dafa projects.
Once, when distributing truth-clarifying materials with fellow practitioners, I met a government cadre who had helped prison guards in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp “transform” Dafa practitioners. He said to me, “Some of the Dafa practitioners I met are not only knowledgeable, but also proficient in all aspects of law and policies. Their reasoning and the facts they have laid out have left us speechless. The Falun Gong practitioners are well educated, humble and polite in their speech, and courteous in their writing. Listening to them speak is a kind of enjoyment for me. They are the pillars of the country and the hope of the nation. To be honest, we have all been ‘transformed’ by these Falun Gong people.”
Given his words, I have become more aware of the responsibility that Dafa practitioners shoulder. The people hope to be saved. At the same time, they have set higher demands on Dafa practitioners. We need to clearly explain the truth of Dafa in the way that the general public can understand. Master has passed on Dafa to us to save people. Every Dafa practitioner must study the Fa well, conscientiously cultivate themselves according to Master’s requirements, and learn more relevant knowledge according to each person’s different experiences and different occupations. We need to adopt different ways for different groups of people to explain the truth of Dafa to them.
Every word and deed of Dafa practitioners is to tell the truth about Dafa, to show the demeanor of Dafa practitioners, and to show the beauty of Dafa. Only in this way can we live up to Master’s expectations of us, and let more sentient beings understand the truth of Dafa and be saved. I would also like to sincerely tell everyone in the world not to reject the truth about Dafa. Only by understanding the truth can you break through the shackles and lies made by members of the CCP, be saved, survive the catastrophe safely, and have a happy and beautiful future.
