(Minghui.org) A Dalian City, Liaoning Province, resident is facing prosecution for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Guan Huanyu’s ordeal stemmed from an arrest on June 2, 2021, by Liu Yansong, deputy chief of the Rixin Street Police Station and four other officers. Her Falun Gong books, portrait of Falun Gong’s founder, printer and other personal belongings were confiscated. Due to her poor health, she was denied admission by the local detention center. Instead of releasing her immediately, the police held her in a hotel room in isolation for 14 days and then released her on house arrest.

The police submitted Ms. Guan’s case to the Xigang District Procuratorate in September 2021. She was put on bail in December 2021. An officer named Shen Zhi of the Rixin Street Police Station called her on May 12, 2022, and ordered her to go there. She went and was told by Shen that she was facing indictment in three months.

The Xigang District Procuratorate later forwarded Ms. Guan’s case to the Ganjingzi District Procuratorate. A prosecutor named Yan Fei gave his number to Ms. Guan and said she can call him if she had any questions regarding her case. It’s not clear when she was indicted and by which procuratorate.

A staffer named Liu Liu from the Dongguan Community called Ms. Guan’s husband on February 22, 2024, and asked about her personal information. Her husband questioned Liu why she wanted to know such information. Liu replied that it was an order from the Political and Legal Affairs Committee, an extra-judiciary agency tasked to persecute Falun Gong.
