Additional Persecution News from China – February 28, 2024 (9 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 4 provinces, where at least 24 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Face Trial

Ms. Yu Guichun, Ms. Li Yongmei, and Ms. Zhang Yujin will be tried by the Dadong District Court at 9 a.m. on February 28, 2024. Ms. Yu’s family hired a defense lawyer for her.

2. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wu Junfang Arrested

Ms. Wu Junfang from Huangshu Village, Jinan New District, was arrested at home by officers from the Chengnan Police Station and the Huaguanying Police Station at 7 a.m. on February 26, 2024. The police ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books, printed materials, and paper bills with Falun Gong information printed on them. Ms. Wu is being held in the Ci County Detention Center.

3. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Taken to Detention Center

Zhang Liang, head of Quzhou County Domestic Security Division, and others went to the homes of Ms. Wang Xiumei, Ms. Li Lian’e, Ms. Feng E and ransacked them around 7 a.m. on February 26, 2024. Three practitioners were taken to the county police department. The police confiscated cash, books, and other items. The three practitioners were taken to the Handan City Detention Center that evening.

4. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Five Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Yang Shuyu, Ms. Zhang Yulan, Wang Jian, and two other practitioners were arrested at Ms. Yang’s home by officers from the Lijiajie Police Station in the Shahekou District on the morning of February 23, 2024. The five practitioners are being held in the Dalian City Detention Center, also known as the Yaojia Detention Center.

5. [Langfang City, Hebei Province] Mr. Zhang Wengang Has Not Returned Home

Mr. Zhang Wengang from Jiuzhou Town was contacted by officers from the Jiuzhou Town Police Station on the morning of February 27, 2024, and told to go there. He did not return home by noon. His situation is being looked into.

Mr. Zhang was reported to the police a few days ago when he distributed information about Falun Gong. When he returned home that day, he noticed that some of his Falun Gong books were confiscated.

6. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Three Practitioners Held in Custody

Officers from the Yilan County Domestic Security Division, the Guanyue Police Station, and the Dongcheng Police Station (both in Yilan County), broke into four practitioners’ homes and ransacked them on the morning of February 8, 2024. The four practitioners who were arrested were Mr. Wang Fuyou, Ms. Fu Guiqin, Ms. Wang Yumei, and Gao Jing. Mr. Wang, 82, was released that day. The other three practitioners were taken into custody.

In addition to the four arrested practitioners whose homes were ransacked, the homes of Ms. Wang’s two non-practitioner younger sisters were also ransacked. The home of a non-practitioner relative of a practitioner was also ransacked. The relative’s non-practitioner son was arrested but was released on the same day.

7. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Zhu Ruiying Arrested

Ms. Zhu Ruiying, 78, was arrested a few days before February 24, 2024, which was the Chinese Lantern Festival. She is currently serving a one-year sentence outside prison.

8. [Suifenhe City, Heilongjiang Province] Five Practitioners Officially Arrested

Shen Yuguo, Zhang Zhong, Li Peng, Jiang Feng, and Wang Lei were arrested on January 18, 2024. It is now confirmed that Shen Yuguo and Zhang Zhong are being held in the Dongning City Detention Center. Li Peng and Jiang Feng are being held in the Suifenhe City Detention Center. Wang Lei is held in the Mudanjiang City Detention Center. They have now been officially arrested.

9. [Xingtai City, Hebei Province] Ms. Ren Haixiang Harassed

Four or five residential officers from police stations in Xiangdu District went to Ms. Ren Haixiang’s home on the morning of February 26, 2024. They confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong, two Falun Gong books, and several lectures given by Falun Gong’s founder, Master Li. They said that if the state does not allow you to practice Falun Gong, then you should stop practicing.
