(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 6 cities or counties in 4 provinces, where at least 13 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
1. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Deng Weijian Arrested
2. [Xishui County, Hubei Province] Ms. Hua Li and Ms. Zhou Yuerong Detained
3. [Tianjin] Ms. Dou and Ms. Duan Arrested
4. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Mr. Li Yilong and Ms. Luo Meilin Admitted to Prisons
5. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Tian Haiying Faces Indictment
6. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yin Baoxiang Detained
7. [Donggang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Pan Guizhen Detained
8. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Xie Yingxiu and Ms. Lai Xianhui Arrested
9. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhong Fangqiong’s Case Returned to the Police
1. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Deng Weijian Arrested
Mr. Deng Weijian of Qingbaijiang District was arrested on November 26, 2024.
2. [Xishui County, Hubei Province] Ms. Hua Li and Ms. Zhou Yuerong Detained
Ms. Hua Li and Ms. Zhou Yuerong of Qingquan Town distributed desktop calendars bearing information about Falun Gong in Xishui County suburb on November 14, 2024 and were reported to the police. They were soon arrested by officers from Caihe Police Station and Qingquan Police Station. Officers collected their fingerprints, palm prints and iris image.
Ms. Hua was given five days at the Jichun County Detention Center and has been released.
Ms. Zhou was put on criminal detention. She was first held at the Huangzhou Detention Center and then transferred to the Wuxue Detention Center. Her family aren’t allowed to visit her.
3. [Tianjin] Ms. Dou and Ms. Duan Arrested
Ms. Dou and Ms. Duan of Dongli District were arrested at home at around 8:30 a.m on November 20, 2024, by Hedong District Case Division officers. Their homes were ransacked. They were released around 5 p.m. that day.
4. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Mr. Li Yilong and Ms. Luo Meilin Admitted to Prisons
Mr. Li Yilong was arrested at work, a factory, on August 9, 2024. His family recently confirmed that he has been admitted to the Nanchang Prison. Details about his indictment, trial and sentencing aren’t clear. His wife went to the prison to visit him, but was denied.
Ms. Luo Meilin was arrested and put into Jiujiang City Detention Center on July 20, 2023 by Chaisang District Domestic Security Division officers. She was sentenced to 18 months in prison and has been admitted to the Jiangxi Province Women’s Prison.
5. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Tian Haiying Faces Indictment
Ms. Tian Haiying was arrested on the street on August 20, 2024, by Shahe Street Police Station officers. She has been held in the Jiujiang City Detention Center since. She is now facing prosecution after the Chaisang District Procuratorate transferred her case to the Yongxiu County Procuratorate. The latter has been designated to handle all Falun Gong cases in the greater Jiujiang region.
6. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yin Baoxiang Detained
Ms. Yin Baoxiang was arrested outside of her apartment building on the afternoon of September 9, 2024, by several officers from Liaohe Police Station. The officers ransacked her home, seized her Falun Gong books, a laptop, and a printer.
Ms. Yin was previously arrested for distributing Falun Gong flyers on August 10 and detained for six days at the Shenyang City First Detention Center. An officer took away her home key while raiding her home and didn’t return it until nine days later.
7. [Donggang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Pan Guizhen Detained
Ms. Pan Guizhen, of Beijing Town, was arrested in Majiadian Street Market on November 4, 2024, after someone reported her for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was detained for 15 days and released on November 19, 2024.
8. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Xie Yingxiu and Ms. Lai Xianhui Arrested
Ms. Xie Yingxiu, 85, talked to three middle school students about the persecution of Falun Gong on a Friday afternoon of April 2024. The students took picture of her and reported her to police. Officers from Guihu Police Station arrested her. They interrogated her and had the three students as witnesses. They ransacked her home, seized her Falun Gong books and a picture of the founder of Falun Gong. They held her for about eight hours, verbally abused her, defamed Falun Gong, and forced her to sign the interrogation record before releasing her.
Ms. Lai Xianhui, 74, talked to a middle school student about the persecution of Falun Gong after 4 p.m. on September 4, 2024. The student took a photo of her secretly, called police, and led Chengdong Police Station officers to arrest her. After taking her to the police station, the police searched her bag, seized seven keepsakes with Falun Gong messages and a copy of the article, “How Humankind Came To Be,” written by Falun Gong’s founder. They called her son to take her home around midnight.
On the morning of September 19, Ms. Lai, her husband, and her son were called to neighborhood office. They ordered her to sign a statement to renounce Falun Gong. She refused. They then threatened her son and ordered him to force her to do it. She still refused to comply.
Around the same time, eight security officers ransacked her home twice. But they did not find any Falun Gong related materials.
9. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhong Fangqiong’s Case Returned to the Police
Ms. Zhong Fangqiong, 59, was arrested on July 7, 2024, by officers from Dafengnan Police Station. The prosecutor recently returned the case to the police. It’s not clear whether it’s for insufficient evidence or other reasons.
Ms. Zhong was previously sentenced twice to a total of 11 years for practicing Falun Gong. She endured relentless torture in detention centers and prisons. The police continued to harass her after she was released.
