(Minghui.org) A 61-year-old resident of Fuxin City, Liaoning Province, is facing indictment after she was recently issued a formal arrest warrant.

Ms. Geng Lijuan was arrested on October 28, 2024, after being reported for talking to people about the Chinese Communist Party’s persecution of her faith, Falun Gong. The arresting officers from the Dongliang Town Police Station in Fumeng County put her on criminal detention and took her to the Chengnan Detention Center in Fuxin City (which oversees Fumeng County).

During the required physical examination, Ms. Geng was found to have premature ventricular contractions (extra heartbeats that begin in one of the heart’s two lower pumping chambers) and denied admission. The police had the detention center repeat the examination and it was the same irregular heartbeat result.

Chen Haibin (+86-15841810700), chief of the Dongliang Town Police Station, used his connections to get the detention center to accept Ms. Geng. He then submitted her case to a local procuratorate (exact name unknown), which issued a formal arrest warrant for her recently. The procuratorate also returned the case to the police. It was unclear whether it was for insufficient evidence or other reasons.

This is not the first time that Ms. Geng has been targeted for practicing Falun Gong, which she took up in 1997 and credits with curing her insomnia, rheumatism, rhinitis, eczema, and breast hyperplasia.

She was first arrested on September 30, 2001 and held at the Fuxin City Detention Center for more than twenty days. She was also fined 10,000 yuan.

Ms. Geng went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong on January 28, 2002 and was arrested. She was held at the Huairou District Detention Center in Beijing for more than ten days before being taken back to Liaoning Province. After more than 40 days in the Fuxin City Detention Center, she was given three years of forced labor and sent to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. The guards there subjected her to all kinds of abuse, including making her squat or stand for hours, depriving her of sleep for 22 days straight, denying her restroom use, and not letting her drink water. A guard once grabbed her by the hair and slammed her head against the wall until she passed out.

While visiting a local practitioner on March 21, 2014, Ms. Geng was arrested and taken to the Fuxin City Detention Center. Two weeks later, she was given three years of forced labor. Not long after, her employer laid her off and her husband divorced her.

After another arrest on February 22, 2018, Ms. Geng was tried on May 21 and sentenced to one year in prison by the Xihe District Court in August 2018.
