(Minghui.org) A practitioner asked me and another practitioner to go to her house to install an NTD television receiver.
When we got there, the practitioner who had made the appointment was not home, so her husband asked us why we were there. I replied, “Your wife asked us to install an NTD TV receiver.” When he asked how many channels he could get, I told him it was only one channel. Then he asked, “Is it Falun Gong?” He then said that NTD TV is against the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and at first refused to let us in.
He said that his wife had been fired from her school for practicing Falun Gong. His child’s tuition fees were very high and he only earned several thousand yuan a month. He said his child would go to college in the future, get married, and buy a house. “How will we be able to afford all that when my wife has no income?” he lamented. The more he said, the angrier he became.
His face was gloomy, his voice was getting louder and louder, and his demon nature exploded. He shouted angrily. The other practitioner and I were not moved by his angry words. We didn’t argue with him, and we held our hearts steady. I remembered Master’s teaching and recited it repeatedly to myself:
“Forbearance is the key to improving one’s xinxing. To endure with anger, grievance, or tears is the forbearance of an everyday person who is attached to his concerns. To endure completely without anger or grievance is the forbearance of a cultivator.” (“What is Forbearance,” Essentials for Further Advancement)
He kept railing as we silently installed the TV receiver and kept sending forth righteous thoughts to clear away the evil spirits and demons behind him. I smiled and said, “Sir, don’t be angry.” I asked him where he worked, and he said that he worked for the county Party committee and gave history lessons about the Party to township Party members at a Party school. I told him that NTD TV was different from what he had said it was, that it covered history, traditional culture, international news, and how Falun Gong has been embraced around the world. I told him that people are practicing Falun Gong in more than 100 countries and how much they have benefited from it.
We tuned the TV receiver in and the picture showed big characters for the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. He got even angrier and said to take receiver down and take it away. We weren’t moved, even when he said he didn’t intend to pay. I said, “Don’t pay for it. We’ve installed it for free. You should watch it, though. Although there is only one channel, it is very comprehensive. It is all about traditional culture. You know, the culture of the divine runs deep in the blood of the people of China.” We adjusted the channel as we spoke to him. It was broadcasting the Nine Commentaries at the part where it talks about the Party destroying the natural environment and destroying religious beliefs. Although the husband was still not happy, due to Master’s mercy and our insistence, he didn’t make us uninstall the receiver.
A few months later, we had strong winds and the receiver ceased to work, so the husband asked us to come back and tune it in. When we go there, he greeted us with a smile and made tea for us. He was hospitable and totally different than before. He said that the TV receiver had been broken for several months, and he was very anxious, so sometimes he adjusted it himself after getting home from work.
He really wanted to watch NTD TV. He had completely lost his original aggressive demeanor. He said, “What NTD says about the history of the CCP is true, but I can’t talk about that when I give lectures to Party members. If I did, who would pay me? How would I get by?” He also said, “NTD has changed my views on atheism and the theory of evolution.”
We tuned in the NTD TV channel for him, and he smiled as he thanked us. Then he paid us for installing the receiver and welcomed us to come again. This Party school teacher chose a bright future.
