(Minghui.org) I am a veteran Falun Dafa practitioner who started practicing Falun Dafa in 1996. I was arrested in 2021 and sent to a brainwashing center. My home was ransacked. I went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution and was sent to a detention center, where they ordered me to write the three statements to give up Falun Dafa. I refused. They treated my case as an important one, and the case officers were changed again and again. Finally, the director in charge of Falun Gong cases handled my case in person. Practitioners outside of China made phone calls to the local judicial departments and the Political and Legal Affairs Committee, and that shocked those who answered.

I was released a year later. Master looked after me my entire time in the detention center. I saw Falun every day and sometimes heard the exercise music. I did what a Falun Dafa practitioner should do: I validated the Fa with my actions and made connections with many guards and inmates.

Officers from the local police station, the Central Comprehensive Management Committee, and the community frequently harassed me after I returned home. They visited me every month or two. A local police officer secretly recorded my conversations every time he saw me. I told him that his behavior was despicable.

Every time they came to see me, I felt like I was surrounded by the substance of “fear,” and that exhausted me. Later on, I refused to open the door so they couldn’t record our conversation or record videos. I talked to them through the window. It ended unhappily. I knew it was not appropriate. I didn’t do well, but I didn’t know how to handle the situation until Master’s two articles “A Wake-Up Call” and “The Ordeals Our Spiritual Discipline Faces” were published in June 2024.

Master said:

“Compassion is expressed in this world through love and kindness, and these are qualities that those who practice Dafa should always radiate from within. There is something I have recently been thinking about. I’ve called upon you to help rescue lives, but the state of mind that you have when doing things to achieve this, such as when you raise awareness among people on your own or perform with Shen Yun, shouldn’t be limited to just those moments. Rather, you should maintain a state of mind of uplifting people’s souls and hold on to this sense of purpose as you go about things at your workplace, wherever it may be. This is especially true for those of you who are involved in various media platforms. There have been cases where others can’t even sense in you the compassion that someone leading a spiritual life should have. Or your commentaries on situations or events are based on your personal inclinations, which shouldn’t be. You are here to help rescue lives on a spiritual level, and you should be gauging things in light of Zhen, Shan, Ren—being true, kind, and forbearing. What you write and say should, at a minimum, help steer people in a direction that will ultimately elevate their souls.” (“A Wake-Up Call”)

I felt as if Master was talking to me and that I wasn’t handling the situation well. I didn’t have ample compassion for the policeman who came to my home. Although I was thinking of saving him, I was actually angry with him and blamed him for having put me in a detention center, where I was treated so badly. I counted loads of his shortcomings. But I should look within, not outward.

Looking back, I realized that I was fearful and competitive and wanted to show off whenever the police came to see me. I was also heavily influenced by Party culture. I sent forth righteous thoughts for a long time to dismantle these mentalities, and I felt my dimensional field become clear. I no longer had fear. Thank you, Master, for enlightening me.

I heard a knock at my door one day. I opened it and saw an unfamiliar police officer and the security director for the local community. The security director introduced me to the new policeman, and I invited them in. The director said, “We won’t come in. We’ll just talk out here.” I asked them why they had been harassing me for so long and when they would stop. The director said, “I’ve asked them not to harass you from now on. You’d better go to the community center and let them know your thoughts.” I said, “Yes, I will go talk to them if I need to.” The director replied, “Ok, I am in charge of this. I need to know more about you.”

I then clarified the truth to them. I said that, before I practiced Falun Dafa, I had a heart problem, gallstones, and uterine fibroids. The doctor had told me that some of my ailments were incurable, but I have been in good health and haven’t taken any medication for the 20 plus years since I started practicing Falun Dafa. My son had six tumors in his intestines. The doctor at the provincial hospital didn’t give him any medications for him but used hormones to keep him alive. My son recovered completely after he started practicing Falun Dafa. He is now in good health and has a good job. He called the community center to cancel the government benefits he had been receiving because he had recovered from his illness. The two officers were very moved.

I told them not to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners, who were only trying to be good people by complying with the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I encouraged them to choose a good future for themselves. The conversation was light, and we smiled as we said our goodbyes.

Master changed the situation for me when I did well. I understood that was a manifestation of compassion at the everyday people’s level. Many practitioners were harassed by the police during the Mid-Autumn festival, but they didn’t come to my home. I saw two sentences in a dream not long ago: “Why were you protected by gods? Our promise is to fulfill our vows!” This was a hint from Master. Only when we cultivate diligently can we fulfill our vows and can gods and Buddha protect us. I will listen to Master, study the Fa more and well, and do the three things well.

Thank you, Master!
