My Experience of Cultivating While Working as a Civil Servant

(Minghui.org) A neighbor gave me a copy of Zhuan Falun in 1997. Out of curiosity, I started reading the book and was immediately fascinated by it. I came to understand many issues I had been confused about and learned that the real purpose of human life is to return to our original true self. My body felt light all over, and I truly experienced the state of being disease-free.

After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Dafa in 1999, I became one of the few people whose names were blacklisted in our city. As a result, I was detained three times, imprisoned three times, sent to a brainwashing center twice, tortured in a forced labor camp for three and a half years, and became homeless for over one year to avoid further persecution.

Because I was never willing to transform, I was expelled from my post, and my identification as a civil servant was suspended by 13 agencies of the government as directed by the 610 Office. They planned to send me to a non-departmental institution, but I declined. Afterward, I went to the 610 Office and requested that my public servant certification be reinstated. The director of the 610 Office said he couldn’t help because it was the decision of 13 agencies.

Although I returned to the agency where I used to work, I lost my certification and any opportunities to be promoted, receive salary increases, or be eligible for other incentives. But as a practitioner, I still tried my best to do my job well. All the leaders praised me, saying my techniques were better than anyone else in the agency.

Because I was targeted for supervision by the CCP, I endured very rigorous monitoring. I was watched 24 hours a day for a long period. The leaders of the 610 Office and many other agencies often came to my division to ask about me. Whenever they came, they investigated whether I had Falun Dafa materials. The agency I worked in also assigned eight people to monitor me directly, as instructed by the 610 Office.

We had over an hour of free time before work and at noon, so I used this time to study the Fa. At first, I had the attachment of fear, trying to avoid colleagues. Some colleagues asked me what I was reading when they saw me lower my head. I showed them the section I was reading but didn’t show the title of the book. One time, when I was reading Zhuan Falun, my superior suddenly walked over and asked what book I was reading. I didn’t answer, but I let him take a look at the contents. He read it for a while and left without saying anything.

At the beginning, the Domestic Security Division of the police came to my workplace twice and asked if I had Falun Dafa materials. I said no, and they never returned. Studying the Fa in the office was also a process for me to improve my xinxing. I gradually removed my fear and could fully utilize the time and focus on reciting the Fa. I’ve been studying the Fa in the office for over 10 years and was never disturbed by anyone. I can now recite the entire contents of Zhuan Falun within 20 days.

Without Master Li’s (Dafa’s founder) protection, it would have been impossible for me to study the Fa in such a hostile environment. All I had was the wish to study the Fa, as for the environment, I was protected by Master.

When people from the government came to my office to try to persuade me to write the guarantee statements, I used it as an opportunity to clarify the truth to them.

One time, the Political & Judiciary Committee, 610 Office, the Domestic Security Division, and the agency I worked for all collaborated to organize an “education & transformation class,” targeting only me. I took the opportunity to distribute truth-clarification materials to them. The director of the Domestic Security Division said to me, “You are still doing this! We are discussing whether to send you to a forced labor camp and detain you there for two to three years!” I didn’t know whether he was warning me not to give out materials or wanting me to give the materials to them.

After the director of the municipal Domestic Security Division transferred, the instructor of the Division took over his responsibilities. He requested to have a talk with me right after he took office. I suggested that we talk at a hotel over tea, and he agreed. I explained that Falun Dafa teaches one to be a good person. I also told him about my personal cultivation experiences and many other facts.

I then explained why it is a sin to participate in persecuting Falun Dafa, and that all persecutors will face retribution for doing so in the future. He didn’t interrupt me, nor say anything bad about Falun Dafa. He just said he hoped to have another chance to talk with me further. After our talk, he never returned and no longer participated in the persecution.

The director of the district Domestic Security Division is the one who came most often to my workplace. In the beginning, he was very hostile towards me and tried to force me to write the three guarantee statements. I explained the truth to him many times and told him that forcing Dafa practitioners to renounce their belief is committing a sin. I told him I refused to comply not only to be responsible for myself but also for him because once I signed a statement under pressure, he would face retribution for it. His attitude has now changed. He calls me “brother,” and whenever he comes to talk, he no longer pressures me to transform. He just does his routine work and leaves.

I have also clarified the truth to my colleagues and tried to persuade them to quit the CCP and its affiliates. Some colleagues listened and some did not, but they all know, firsthand, how I changed after I began practicing Dafa: I became morally upright and healthy.

My performance at work has had a “butterfly effect.” Many leaders and colleagues in my district have witnessed and been convinced by my kindness, good health, and work habits. When I met some leaders and staffers from other workplaces and told them my name, they said they were familiar with my name already and were very friendly. To date, I’ve only persuaded five colleagues to quit the CCP. However, while some colleagues haven’t yet quit, they understand the evil nature of the CCP and have the potential to withdraw from the Party.

I’ve been cultivating Falun Dafa for 26 years and enlightened that only through solid Fa-study can I have true righteous thoughts. It’s because of Master’s compassionate protection that I could overcome all the persecution and keep cultivating to the present.
