(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 7 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 14 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
1. [Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Zhao Li Sentenced to Prison
2. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Chunjie Taken to Prison
3. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Several Practitioners Taken to Prison
4. [Yichang City, Hubei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested
5. [Dunhua City, Jilin Province] Several Practitioners Arrested
6. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wu Dianhua Harassed
7. [Chongqing] Ms. Duan Zaiying Arrested
1. [Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Zhao Li Sentenced to Prison
Ms. Zhao Li, from Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province, was tried by the Jiangbei District Court in Chongqing on October 24, 2023. She was sentenced to one year and ten months in prison on November 17. She was held in the Yubei District Detention Center in Chongqing. Her family has submitted an appeal.
2. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Chunjie Taken to Prison
Ms. Zhang Chunjie was arrested by officers from the Changchun City Domestic Security Division and the Dongzhan Police Station in February 2023. She was later sentenced to three years in prison by the Chaoyang District Court. She appealed. Ms. Zhang was taken to Jilin Province Women’s Prison on December 13, 2023.
3. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Three Practitioners Taken to Prison
Ms. Yu Fangzhuang, 90, Ms. Deng Meizhen, 82, and Ms. Xiong Quanmei, 71, were taken to prison on December 5, 2023. They are being held in Jiangxi Province Women’s Prison.
4. [Yichang City, Hubei Province] Several Practitioners Arrested
Ms. Sun Yong, 76, and two other practitioners were reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong in March 2023. They were arrested by officers from the Xiling District Domestic Security Division. The other two practitioners were detained for two weeks, and Ms. Sun was placed under residential surveillance for six months due to her age. At the end of the residential surveillance in September, the Domestic Security Division head and others handed her case over to the procuratorate for prosecution. On September 25, Ms. Sun was tried. In November she was sentenced to one year of “restraint at home.”
Mr. Zhang Xuecai, 71, went to the Fuxing Road Post Office to mail Falun Gong materials at the end of August 2023 and was seen on surveillance cameras. On the morning of November 24, Mr. Zhang and his wife were arrested by officers from a police station in Wujiagang District when they left their home. The couple was taken to the police station. Mr. Zhang was given 15 days of detention and served it at home.
Ms. Hu Jinzhi was arrested and taken to the High-tech Zone Police Department on September 13. The police wanted to detain her for 15 days. However her blood pressure was as high as 180 during a physical examination, and she was released.
5. [Dunhua City, Jilin Province] Several Practitioners Arrested
Officers from the Political Security Section of the Dunhua City Police Department, the Danjiang Street Police Station, and the Minzhu Police Station arrested Ms. Wang Xiangju and more than 10 elderly practitioners on November 28, 2023. They ransacked the practitioners’ homes and confiscated all of their Falun Gong books. The police covered the practitioners’ heads with black hoods when they brought them out of their homes.
Ms. Wang, 70 years old, was detained for nine days. Ms. Lin Shenghua, in her 60s, was detained for ten days, and Ms. Meng Qingling, in her 70s, was released on bail.
6. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wu Dianhua Harassed
Ms. Wu Dianhua from Laishui County was harassed by officers from the Laishui Town Police Station on November 16, 2023. The police asked her if she still practiced Falun Gong and photographed her.
7. [Chongqing] Ms. Duan Zaiying Arrested
Ms. Duan Zaiying from Banan District was reported to the police on the morning of December 20, 2023, when she talked to people about Falun Gong on her way to the grocery market in Jieshi Town. The police followed her and arrested her. Domestic Security officers were called in. They ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books and paper bills with Falun Gong facts printed on them. Ms. Duan was taken to the hospital for a physical examination. Her husband brought her home that night.
