(Minghui.org) At least 13 Falun Gong practitioners in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province were arrested or harassed in the second half of 2023 for publishing solemn declarations on Minghui.org to nullify statements that they were previously forced to write to renounce and denounce Falun Gong.
In order to make Falun Gong practitioners give up their belief, the communist regime often resorted to brutal torture, intimidation, brainwashing, implication of family members, and other despicable means. Some practitioners buckled and wrote the renouncing and denouncing statements as ordered. Once they came to their senses, they regretted having written such statements and proceeded to publish solemn declarations to nullify those statements.
As the statements were published with the practitioners’ real names and the communist regime is closely monitoring the Minghui website, this could result in another round of arrests and harassment, as in the case of the 13 practitioners in Guiyang. The police had the practitioners’ solemn declarations in hand during the arrests or harassment.
Five Arrested on July 6, 2023
A group of officers from the Zunyi Road Police Station showed up at Mr. Sun Yue’s home on July 6, 2023, and accused him of promoting cult organizations online. They gave him ten days of administrative detention.
Another group of officers from the same police station raided Ms. Li Yuanyou’s home on the same day and confiscated her Falun Gong books and other valuables. She was held at the police station briefly before being taken to the Nanming Case Handling Center. While interrogating her there, the police showed her a solemn declaration and questioned if she had written it. She said yes and was taken to the Sanjiang Lockup the next day. She was later transferred to the Sanjiang Detention Center, where she is still on criminal detention as of today.
Ms. Tang Jianhua was detained for five days after her arrest on July 6, 2023.
Ms. Wang Tingmei and Ms. Zhang Chunming were also arrested on that day and have since been released.
Six Arrested on October 8, 2023
A group of officers from the Pingqiao Police Station raided Ms. Shen Meiyin’s home on October 8, 2023, and took her to the Economic Development District Police Department. She was later transferred to the Sanjiang Detention Center, where she remains as of today.
Another group of officers from the same police station did the same thing to Ms. Wang Haiyun on the same day. She was also held at the Economic Development District Police Department first before being taken to the Sanjiang Lockup. She was released after 12 days of detention.
Ms. Huang Guanmin faced the same type of persecution on October 8. She was also held at the Jingkai District Police Department first before being taken to the Sanjiang Detention Center. It was learned that she was put on criminal detention but there was no information on whether she had been released.
The Gaoxin Police Station arrested Mr. Yao Xiaoqin and detained him for 15 days.
The Pingqiao Police Station held Ms. Chen Zhengying at the Economic Development District Police Department for several hours before releasing him on the night of October 8, 2023.
A sixth practitioner whose name is unknown was also arrested on the same day. It was unclear whether she was still in detention.
Two Harassed
Four people, one in police uniform and the other three possibly community workers harassed Ms. Liu Zuoxuan in September 2023. They questioned her about her solemn declaration but did not arrest her.
Ms. Peng Zelan was also harassed for issuing a solemn declaration but there were no details of her harassment.
